| Palm Hardcase == bad Hey fellas,
I am a bit torqued off.
I got the Palm Hardcase about 2 months ago ( after a nearly killing drop :rolleyes Last week I found that it failed to close sometimes and once fell out of my pocket with an open case (I am clumsy... )
The problem is a stupid one, the clasp that holds the case shut is made of thin, cheap plastic, with a tendancy to break (I guess). So I suggest that anyone that is clumsy, look into a different option :-)
Just a friendly warning,

| Yes the Palm hardcase is a horrible piece of engineering. Try to use some of the 3rd party hardcases out there. I've heard that Rhinoskin has the best aluminum hardcase out there.

| Same experience with the Palm hardcase that I had bought for my Tungsten E. Loved the case but did not resalise how delicate the closing mechanism was. |

| Hi phreakonaleash
I had one on my old TE and only used it when absolutely necessary.
I also found it was too slippery and nearly dropped it countless times trying to open it.
I did read a thread somewhere (sorry can't find it) but the poster had filed off the original 'latch' and then drilled 2 holes top and bottom. He then glued some cheap, weak magnets in in the holes.
He said it worked great.
Note: They discussed if the magnets would affect the Palm but apparently they will not.
Since you are self confessed 'clumsy' it maybe best to get someone to drill the holes for you
All the best, woz of oz |

| Hi. I use the Palm hard case for my TX with no problems. Once I figured out how to open it, I have no problem opening and closing it. I find the open/close mechanism very durable, as I've dropped the case (with palm inside) many many times, even if it is just a piece of plastic.

Same here, it has been good for me. I use the hard case, leather case and sometimes just the flip cover depending on the protection I need at the time.

Heh from my memory you probably out the magnet right on teh screen of the tv and made it go a funny colour probably green (can be of the 3 main ones but green seems to happen more then blue).
I would think something like a magnet would have not so good interference somewhat with any device that involves chips.
Yeah from my exp prior when I ordered my TX i ordered the hard case with it. ANd yeah the palstic is somewhat flimsy. Quote: | Originally Posted by dragonsgames You guys drop your devices a lot! |

| I thought about a hard case when I bought my T5 a couple years ago but wanted something that left the screen ready to write on. I bought one of the rubber slip-on covers (can't remember who from and the cover doesn't have any branding, but it was similar to the iSkin case I used to have on my iPod).
It protects my T5 from the normal knocks of everyday use and is still slim enough to slip into a jacket pocket without bulges - also slips into the leg pocket of my "combats". A screen protector keeps scratches off the screen (the same one has been on it for two years and is still fine). The rubber case stops it sliding off the desk or car dash, and also stops it slipping out of my pocket.
I have dropped it on a couple of occasions, but just onto a carpeted floor. I doubt the case would protect it from a 3 foot drop onto concrete but a case that doesn't slide, nor has to be opened to use, makes dropping it less likely.
My $0.02 worth!

| The person who added the magnets to his case was/is me!!
Attached is a pic of the pda in the case showing the magnets circled in red.
These magnets are the kind that you'd find as clasps for purses and such and are not weak but very strong.
Since adding them I LOVE the case!!! |

| I've kinda looked around here for a couple months but because of a specific issue I was told I could get a certain program (ForceDelete), to delete a program off my TX, from the download section here.
And as I was wandering around, I stumbled upon this thread and realized "hey, that's me!"
And for the record, the magnets don't affect the TX in any way negative. |
