| Hey Alan... http://www.jamerican.net/?p=33
It's not about style, its about usability . I don't look at the battery meter anymore before doing sometihng like WiFi, playing music or playing games.

Woha! Do you have a license to pack that kind of fire power? (Kidding) Anyway, I normally don't look at the battery meter when I'm using my Treo, but something is clearly wrong here. The battery should not be heating up like that.

Oh definately. We don't want a story on exploding handheld batteries (God forbid).

| I'm using this battery pack from APC which I purchased in Japan. I can play countless of hours with my PSP then charge my iPod after watching video with my iPOd I can also watch movies with my T5 all in a single charge. |

| Nice podcast Alan... I'm listening to it now.
I've got 3 batteries and I have been using them all. Changing them every 2 or 3 weeks or so. No battery heating up my device here... yet. I'll have to pay more attention to that.
You even mentioned that the Yankee's are about in last place.

| The Yankees may have the best lineup out there for baseball but it does not means that it will gaurantees them to be at the top of the league. Just like in technology having the best cutting edge technology does not means it will going to be a hit, remember that the Sony Clie line have the best features for a mobile device but it flunked and went out of business. Everything needs chemistry, having the right combination of features is a must. Look at the iPod certainly I agree that there are lot of better media players out there than the iPod but apple makes it right when they met the perfection of having the right chemistry between hardware and software despite not having the best of features for a media player. Another good example is the Palm Treo... The treo smartphone enables the old Palm OS to exceed it full potential as a mobile OS designed for the Traditional PDA- Palm showed that synergistic integration of the OS and the hardware can result into an awesome productive machine.

| Good show Alan, despite the lack of an editorial
2 pieces of warning related to SW titles you mentioned:
1- Card Export II is NOT compatible with Treo 680. While discussing this with Support, they confirmed this and said they were planning a new release end of March. We are already May and I have not seen anything yet ... I already switched to CardReader from MobileStream some months ago since I needed a reliable solution.
2- The latest version of Resco Backup may or may not result in instabilities on your device depending on how you run it. I learned that performing a reset after a full backup circumvents some problems, otherwise I noticed some strange behavior in apps running right after it. There are some threads ongoing on both 1src and BrightHand discussing this. I also posted a question on Resco forums but no feedback from their side yet. YMMV

I uninstalled the last 2 applications that I've loaded and so far, my Treo has been behaving normally. I wonder if one of them could be leaving the network connection open and active. That would chew up the battery in short order and would cause the device to heat up. I'll keep an eye on it and give you guys an update on the next podcast.

| Thanks for the battery tip Rob! I received my BoxWave 2400mAh battery on Thursday and I've been using it for the first time today. The battery is holding up well.
