| Not a bug... based on the crippleware scheme Dmitry uses. It's a bit of a pain sometimes though.
I remembered how I get around it: I use RE to zip the file and then reset; to enable again, I unzip the file and reset.
I found that AutoWifi and Obfuscate were conflicting with something during startup. I also found that something else causes a reset AFTER all the apps have loaded, when the first screen is being drawn (after the DIA is drawn, but before the Date & Time screen is drawn).
Maybe I'll take the time soon to figure out what app causes the crash & burn.

| Hmm, When I click the link it says I don't have permission to access the file.
Any Thoughts?
Thanks,

| FixBoot is superceded by CleanStart.

| When I use CleanStart how do I know which apps to check?
It would be nice if the program had a mode to tell me which apps need to be notified on reset.

If anyone will develop real working artifical intelligence then maybe it will be integrate in CleanStart.
By then you can deactivate all games.
And all tools that don't integrate themself in the OS.
---
Examples, need to activate:
brightnessfix2
clippro
dimmer
fontsmoother
hi-launcher
mykbd
palmrevolt
rlock
slovoed
sunrise
apt
sdhc (version 1.05 or higher)

Is there no way for CleanStart to find out which apps get loaded into the cache on reset to tell me, so I can check only those?

| The way you can use is this:
Run your device without cleanstart.
Start PalmInternals. Tap to Alarm. Most of this Apps must be activate in Cleanstart. You can Export the list to memos.
Then Start RLock. Choose Action "Select defaults". This Apps should be activate in cleanstart.
Now you're prepaired for using cleanstart. Good Luck. |

All apps get loaded into the cache on reset.
That is why you want to use cleanstart/uncache to prevent this behavior. |

Thanks. That's what I was asking. There were a couple of problems with the above. For one thing some apps that need to be notified of reset were missed: namely YAHM (which needs to activate hacks), Keyboard and some others. Also some of the app names in the Alarm info from PalmInternals were not listed by CleanStart.
Is there any value to enabling Rlock? And locking apps with Rlock?
I wonder if you can use the Notification information from PalmInternals to take the place of the way you use Rlock?

RLock is a band aid for improperly written apps. Any app that needs to be RLocked should be ditched for a better written alternative.
Rlock destroys your free chunk size (locks the app, usually, in the middle of the dynamic ram, so even if it is small app, it'll have you chunk size... Makes gaming, emulation, etc harder/slower)
Doesn't PalmInternals scan application code looking for the asm code to call SysNotifyRegister? I think that would be a nice feature for CleanStart...

No, that would be impossible to do 100% correctly. Look into " Rice's theorem"
That is to say there does not exist and cannot exist a program that can analyze another program and produce a response to any non-trivial question about it. "Will it call $FUNCTION_X?" is a non-trivial question.

Care to enlighten me, then, Dima?

Another problem I had with this algorithm: it missed FastLaunch, so I reset with CleanStart without notifying FastLaunch. After the reset, FastLaunch was not active and when I tried to activate FastLaunch and exit I got a reset. It was not until I added this app to CleanStart and reset that I was able to get this to work properly.

| RLock (Resco Explorer has the same ability) is not 100% reliable - in my experience, anyway - in identifying applications that need to be in the CleanStart or UnCache list. Likewise, it does identify a few applications that actually do fine if they are omitted. Use it as a starting guide, but don't rely on it completely, as Adam Heldberg's example illustrates.
