| How to temporarily disable app? Hi,
I was wondering if there is a way to disable an application temporarily on my TX. I have some stuff that's bugging me and I want to hunt for incompatibilities between software I installed (e.g. I suspect Eventlauncher is having problems with YAHM and TXDriveMode).
So, I could try looking for the problems by hotsyncing about 30 times trying different combinations of apps, but I guess it could be easier if I could just "turn off" an app temporarily by changing a file attribute or something. This would make a much faster and general troubleshooting method for problems in my Palm.
I suppose this would also help me keep each application's settings and datafiles without having to reinstall everything when I want the app back the way it was.
Thanks for any tips on how to do this! |

| You could just create a folder on your VFS card called something, then move the apps there when you want to 'disable' them, then when you're done you can just copy the entire folder back to your device.
P.S. I'll have a look see at DriveMode

| Isn't it possible without copying? Changing an attribute or file type? |

| Since you asked in the developer's forum, a developer's answer:
One could also change the type away from 'appl' (or one of the other special types) to something else. However, if the application hooks into the OS, one would then need to perform a soft-reset to disconnect the hook. |

Thanks, I guess this is what I'm looking for. I'll try it later on. And yes, I deliberately asked in this forum to get a "under-the-hood" approach to the problem... :-) |
