Hello all,

I recently got a MacBook (I still owe $500 on it... will take a few months to pay off ). Anyway, I installed Missing Sync, and it said I need the new Intel version (of course I have to pay for an upgrade...). I installed it, and plugged in my UX50, and put it in Data Import mode. It isn't showing up! Anyone have this problem? Were you able to fix it?

Mounting the memory stick works fine for me, but you can not mount the internal media. I have an Intel Mac mini and an Intel Macbook.

Hmm, strange. I had to sync my music with the HotSync option... it took forever!

Has anyone tried to synch Windows-specific apps like PenDragon forms or others via XP on an Intel Mac running BootCamp?

"This is a issue with the Clie and the Intel Macs. The Missing Sync software on the computer does not play a role on the mounting of the device. You will need to contact Sony for further assistance with the issue, since it is related to compatibility issues of the Clie with the Intel Macs. The Data Import utility on the handheld is also shipped direct from Sony."

MarkSpace's own website says: "Desktop mounting of handheld memory cards Use the Finder to copy or remove files from the handheld's memory card"

MissingSync Software does not play a role on mounting? That doesn't make sense, as it is required to mount the CLIE on Mac OS...

You MUST have Missing Sync 4+ installed - it installs a PRC on your Clie that allows "Data Import" (on a Clie UX50 at least) to work with a Mac running OSX.

If you do not have Missing Sync installed then brother let me shake your hand (as we as comment yet again on the great avatar name; I for one "get it")

A solution for me anyway was to just get a MS reader for my Mac Book; until such time as MarkSpace recognizes the error of their ways.

Just to clarify...I have a Core Duo Mac mini and a Core Duo MacBook, each with the latest Missing Sync installed. My UX50 will connect to each of them and mount the memory stick that is currently loaded in the slot by using the built in Data Import utility on the UX50. Yes it did install the Missing Sync PRC on my Clie, but when tapping that, it tells me to use the Data Import instead, so I deleted the Missing Sync prc and miracurously, it still mounts!

Yeah, I don't know what that app is for, but they say to keep it on there. I think it has something to do with HotSyncing...

I too have that problem on my Intel MacBook. The HotSync works FINE. Strangely though, the Data Import function worked for awhile, then seemingly out of the blue it would not mount. I checked it on my eMac and it worked just fine. I reinstalled the system on the MacBook (I had some other issues!) and it worked for a day! Must be some sort of conflict. I gues unless someone stumbles across the solution to that conflict or MarkSpace figures out how to make their mounting program work for the Clie, we're out of luck. Don't expect Sony will write the fix, as they no longer sell or support the Clie...a crying shame on the order of Apple dropping the Newton IMHO.

Anyway, I've taken to using a card reader for the memory stick. A bit inconvenient, but it mounts in exactly the same format.

As a follow-up I too used a card reader in my ExpressCard/34 slot. As it doubles as a an SD card reader (I travel with my camera) and I synch the Clie via BlueTooth that's two less cables to carry...

I can't really fault MarkSpace (altho I run a pretty much 'vanilla' version of OSX) as this whole OS thing is essentially a house of cards.

I didn't try Vista yet (XP Pro, converted perfectly for Parallels for a VirtualPC image), but curious how well the Windows synch work, especially with 3rd party apps like PenDragon Forms etc.
