Battery notes

Where do you go when you want to change your dying battery in your pda?

For the risk adverse crowd they can always go to their manufacture's website and look for repairs and support sections.

Then there are the independent battery suppliers. (Some of this information is time sensitive and will be periodically updated by seeing last edited)

TH-series section (See next coment #2)
can tell you better for batteries on that particular model.

Laptops for less is another company that sells batteries but not all batteries are in stock. But as a general idea, most palm model batteries may be less expensive than Sony battery replacements (except for the Hong Kong website company)

People from other countries like Canada may be closed from various web companies due to shipping problems but we will try to share as much information as possible.

Here is another battery replacement sample:

Notice that it says battery & replacement tools so compare the offers, see if there is a guarantee and check buyer's response if available.

So far as I noticed is that handspring batteries can go as high as $50 and the palm v &Vx is the most inexpensive depending on manufacturer

This battery notes thread is a good idea. Everyone, who have experience with his/her Palm battery replacements, please post away. I go ahead and add my note.

For CLIE, you can get it from Sony Direct Accessories & Parts Center (DAPC).

TH55 OEM parts number is 175644611

You can fine the TH55 battery replacement procedure in the same Laptop for Less website, mentioned in post #1, above: http://www.cliebattery.com/csk-003install.html. marcinm123 wrote a very detail procedure complete with pictures in this TH55 Battery Replacement thread.

Before swapping TH55 battery, make sure you read these 2 threads:
A word of warning on battery swapping
Where are directions on changing a battery

For more info on TH55 hardware, spareparts, repair, etc., you can always check this thread: Let's build "TH55 Spareparts Center" Here

I have plenty of Y screwdriver in stock each for $6.00 including S&H.

Forgot to add that you can test your battery performance first, if you are wondering whether your old battery is still any good, before replacing the battery, by performing Discharge Test with a freeware called Battery TIME 1.84.

For comparison, some of TH55 battery Discharge Test results can be found in this thread: Battery life incredible

Battery extenders:
http://www.1src.com/forums/showthre...ht=m505+battery
Where the forum talks about palm power to go that connects to early zire and early Tungsten.

On ebay here is a recent link:
http://search.ebay.com/palm-power-t...fsopZ3QQxpufuZx
Palm power to go

There are also a lot of forum chat on homemade battery extenders but I think there are no recent posts and no one is selling homemade battery sleds

Then there are the 4AA kind, e.g., eBay Item number: 130069590384. I actually have the Sony CLIE PEGA-BC10 available when I travel to places with no access to AC power.

More disclaimers: Lithium batteries should not be disposed of carelessly. I believe the local Radio Shack and other companies will help you recycle Lithium, Li-ion and other batteries safely.

Also any chemical leakage on your hands should be washed off immediately and don't get any of it in your eyes. If you are not a trained profession, at least try to educate yourself as much as possible before attempting a battery change.

If your device is still under waranty it may be best to let the guarenteer to take care of your device. Good luck and if there are any questions or answers that you know of please post(BTW there is an edit button so you can change your comments later)

Good thread...I've already had to replace the battery in a Palm Zire 72s and found Mr. Christ Short and his online Palm service options, including battery replacement, to be of major benefit.
His eBay store is listed as "itsnothere" and his services can be found under Palm Evaluation and Repair. He provides fast, reliable service on a variety of models.
I've had my TX for a little over a year and the battery has been holding a charge pretty well. But when it begins to fail me, I'll look up Mr. Short again!

The above post is a good example of what I would like to see. Eventually maybe this thread will become a "sticky" and there will be one for each category. If you post in this section it is helpful to post the url and any other important information (like when you did the battery change since batteries are "time sensitive" Thanks to Dan T and rowillia for their willingness to share.

Just Put here at 1src Modnar(almost a year later) One solution with good step by step details:
http://www.1src.com/forums/showthre...051#post1028051

Additional notes: The Zire 31 has a soldered battery connection like the Zire 72
