SDHC Cards WORK!

There's a thread going on at TreoCentral about the Treo 680 being able to use 8Gb SDHC cards...then a chap at PalmInfocenter has confirmed that a Treo 700p can ALSO use SDHC cards. All you need to do is copy the following file to your device and off you go!

http://www.sendspace.com/file/m5ixxl << copy, don't HotSync!

I don't have an SDHC card (yet), so can someone maybe try this on a LifeDrive? hehehe 32Gb SDHC cards are coming later this year...yeah, there may be issues with reading the correct size, but hey, a 36Gb LifeDrive might be worth it!

I don't have a SDHC card either. I wonder if this will work on a Palm Zire 72?
SDHC cards surly will not work in a Zaurus, so I'll probably wait for prices to go way down to purchase a SDHC card

There is someone in the German forum Nexave who has an 8 GB SDHC in his Treo 680 (but only 4 GB are recognized).

Do you think this slot driver also removes the 2 GB limit of older devices?

On TreoCentral, a member proved that if you filled up the card past 4Gb, it works properly as 8Gb, even though it shows the capacity as 4Gb. I believe it shows up as 8Gb in Card Export though.

For all german speaking people, there are some great informations over at the page of Bertram Becker (www.bbst.de).
He did a lot of SDHC testing (I also tried some drivers for him on my TX).
He has all the information about which card to format with which parameters (FAT16 or FAT32, Blocksize, etc.) for optimum speed.
It makes a huge difference.

Here is the summary in German:

http://www.bbst.de/pda/archiv/archi...tm#erkenntnisse

BTW: So far, it looks that SDHC are presently not working on a TX. But large SD-Cards (4GB SD-Cards, which kind of exceed the SD-Specs) work.

On my TX, there are presently the 680 MMSDCard.prc and MMSDCard_deDE.prc, which have a slightly higher version number (Version ID 417 vs 411).
They work fine so far.

Work fine as in what? You've got SDHC support? AFAIK, MMSDCard.prc is for VersaMail...

Wouldn't you want the updated MMSDCard.prc file so VersaMail could write to the SDHC card? Other than than that, I'm not sure why you'd need MMSDCard.prc in addition to SlotDriver%3A SDIO-sdsd.prc file.

So far it's the Treo 680 and will work for the Trep 700p.
