Can anyone help?

I got this email from Sony about my unit being repaired...
Dear customer,

Thank you for your patronage of our SONY CLIE products.

Here are some information on warranty.

1.Customer registration will expand the warranty from three
months to a year from the date of purchase. Consequently, if the
date of purchase is more than a year in the past, the
warranty is expired.

*Overseas address is invalid for customer registration.

2.Warranty is valid only for use in Japan. Repair from overseas
requires repair fee and shipping/tax.

3.The repair station is in Japan only. You will need to attend
a substitute in Japan, who can contact us for pickup arrangement
in advance.

We hope you kindly understand the above.

I got it less than a year ago, so then it must still be in warranty. But I don't know anyone in Japan. Anyone here in Japan that can help me?

Did you try with pdakobo?

It's a japanese shop I use frome time to time, I even returned some items (repairs and upgrade) and no problem

If you didn't buy with them, try to tell them, perhaps they'll accept to handle it anyway?

Sorry guys! Haven't kept you updated!
I sent the unit to PDAKBOO and they sent it to Sony. They are going to try to handle it as a warranted unit (since they are in Japan).

My VZ90 was handled as a warranted unit!

I did it several times with them, and I had no problem with them, it's just a check on their side, they destroy the fax each time

Dragongames, I can also vouch for PDAKOBO - had to do the same thing when I purchased my unit from them direct. They seem an honest bunch. Some blind faith required (well, not completely blind - foggy maybe). Good luck.

I tried Faxing them, but it didn't work. I am not too good a using the fax machine, and have never sent a fax to Japan. Their number is "81-86-427-7550", I can't figure out how to send to that number.

The exact number is:
+81-86-427-7550
(81 is the country code for Japan).
In France, to make an international call, we have to "replace" + by "00", so :
0081864277550
You should replace "+" by the "international" code, in France it's "00", in USA I don't know, "011":

It should do something like:

Dragonsgames, it's sad that you're selling it. No doubt you'll not remember it with fondness. I have a VZ-90, 2 x UX-50s, 1 x UX-40 and an old (basic) Sony CLIE and the VZ-90 is by far the most impressive unit I've owned. I use it as a multi-media unit and save the UX-50 for work stuff. I love it. I'm sorry you've had a disappointing experience with this unit - you were so excited at the start....
