| charging kit? Hi there,
I'm looking to get a charger kit for the UX50, preferably one with a wall charger.. Any recommendations? I saw one on ebay for around 50 USD or so...
Thanks,

| Is there anyone selling a similar kit without the whole case thing? I don't have a need for this case and for this price I'd rather have an extra battery than the case itself, but I do need a USB hotsync/charger kit.
Would you guys know any of this? I'm in Spain but I can order from anywhere if need be.
Before redirecting me to the FAQ's response or a Google search keep in mind I already looked there. The first one is sold out and in Google there is a lot of accesories that look fishy and that probably wouldn't charge the UX50.
If I don't get a response I'll probably post this in a new thread, in case it gets buried. |

| The brando one shows on my end as "Sold out". The gadgetinfinity link also throws an error when clicked.
I'm afraid (in my case) I waited a month too long as well (which is ironic considering I've had my ux50 since 2003) and now the usb charger/hotsync cable is not available anywhere I can see. Bummer. |

| Tomn77: I stumbled with this and half a dozen like this. It's one of the ones I thought looked "fishy" in my post above. Either the photo has nothing to do with the product, it doesn't include all the connectors shown or it's a scam.
In a few places I've seen pages like this, where the product names are filled automatically and the product doesn't really behave like they say. In others I've seen small print saying that the cable only works for hotsync in the ux50 while all the big print says it does charge. So beware.
It would really help if people with experience with these products piped in, but I think they've already blocked this thread from their brain. |

| if you don't find a charger kit, just make the USB charging mod and buy for a few $ a USB/miniUSB wire. |

| Or... I recommend the usb charging mod and this hard metal case. I like it. I had to file the metal case a little bit (just to make the MS and headphone jack holes a little bigger, as well as the usb hole to accommodate the plug. Now I feel secure whenever I carry my UX and I can charge it anywhere. It's thinner than the leather charge case and cheaper.

| Anoine, rgjp: I knew about the mod, I was avoiding it voluntarily because I'd rather not mess with the UX50 myself, but the WiFi doesn't work, so I'll probably end up doing it anyway.
I'd just rather get something already made by someone with better skills than me
I know there is at least one specific mod for the charger. Is there more than one? Which one you guys recommend? Which is the least 'dangerous' to perform? |

Just follow the pictures. I connected a wire from the 5V+ on the USB cable which is shown by this pic...
If you pick up your USB, you will see the same thing the pic above shows. Look for the big connector next to the USB and the USB prong that's closest to it, connect the wire to that one.
Then unscrew the 4 connectors on the back of your UX, turn it around and the connector closest to the screw hole, connect the wire to that one.
Place the screw back into the connectors and reattach it to your device. Test your device to make sure you get an orange light and that's it.
(These instructions are hard to explain so try to use them and the pictures to make it easier.)

| rgjp: This case supports the extended battery? Do you have a tutorial with pictures of the mod you made? |
