| Please all CLié users: 5 Difficult Problems Clié Users, I have been a Palm user for 3 years plus, and I have had the m100, m505, m515 and Tungsten T. With all respect, I feel deceived by company’s “sales strategies” (m505 and m515 issue) and I think that they are great in what they’ve created, but in their devices they lack of honesty. Therefore, looking for a better device, I just recently upgraded to a Clié NX70V and I have a couple of difficult problems to solve:
Problem #1: Sony’s Desktop Software. Since my wife and me have been Palm users we have always used the Palm Desktop software, however, Sony told me that the Palm devices don’t synchronize with Sony’s Palm Desktop software. I still went ahead and bought my Clié. My wife is still a palm user (m 130) and we have a little trouble syncing our machines in the same desktop. (I have a Sony Viao coputer, Windows ME and running the current Palm desktop for Sony.)
Everything is fine so far, with the exception that the Palm desktop for Sony does not have a Note pad application, so my wife cannot see her notes in the desktop PC. I still keep my disks from the Tungsten T’s Palm Desktop Software, but I have not even dare to install them on top of the current Sony’s Program, to avoid a problem of synchronization with my Clié. Any solutions, anyone?
Problem #2. My NX70V: I cannot live without a Note Pad application, is my principal reminder in my business. I am in a terrible urge to find a Note Pad Replacement for my Clié and if possible that it may transfer the notes to my desktop PC. I found “Diddle Bug” and did not help me with the alarm function. Any ideas?
Problem #3. Before I bought my unit, I had to choose between the NX70V and the NZ90. And the reason I went for the NX70V was because of the price in the NZ90 was to expensive ($800.00 + Tax + Insurance) and I saw that apart from the 2 mega-pixel camera it is really no better than the NX70, it’s battery is no good because it drains too fast (Sounds like Company’s strategy to sell you the “new replaceable batteries”), Even the sales guys say that the people is turning down from the NZ90 because of the price. I don’t want to sound like an ignorant, but paying for a palm device close to a thousand dollars, is really something to think about. Any concrete comments?
Is the NZ90 Worth over the NX70V (aside of the improved camera)? Would the NZ90 solve some of the issues described above, so I could go and exchange my unit right now?
Problem #4. Tungsten T Users: Is there any of the applications that came in the Tungsten T CD’s that may be safe to use in the Clié NX70V
Problem #5. Riddle: Does anybody know what does Clié mean or what language does it belong to?
I would appreciate any responses in any or all of the questions.
Thank you all!

| Problem answers:
#1: Go to Palmsource and download the Palm v4.1 Desktop software and install it over the Sony, as Sony only supports the Sony. This is what I did and it worked just fine.
#2: There is the built-in Clie Memo, besides Memo Pad. I don't know if BugMe will work for you. http://bugme.net/
#3: No, the NZ90 would not have solved any of your problems.
#4: All I know about is the WebProV internet browser.
#5: Sorry, I don't remember, but there has been dialogue on it in the past.
Enjoy your new unit !

#5 | | Guest | they're right, Clié stands for Communication, link, information, and entertainment.
the accent à gauche over the e (é) is really nothing more than a marketing ploy to make it sound more exotic. In french it would be the past participle of the verb "clier", except that no such verb exists, so the french are particularly perplexed by the word. In my opinion it is kind of an insult to french language except it even fools french people here in Paris where I live so I guess they got away with it.

These days companies try very hard to find words that don't mean anything in any language. They've made a bunch of mistakes like that before. One of my favorites is the Mitsubishi Montero, that you Europeans know as the "Pajero", which is slang in certain Spanish dialects (Cubano, I think) for wanker. Obviously, they had to change it in America. There's also Coca-Cola, where if you pronounce it correctly, it means "bite the wax tadpole" in Chinese. I personally love Japanese products with English names, like "Cat Wetty" wet wipes and stores named "Violence Jack-Off". |

| I can gladly email you Palm's Notepad application, but I don't know if it will run under Palm OS 5. Worth a try though. Email me at UZI4U182@suscom.net and I'll send it.

| Spanish dialects? sorry but spanish is spanish in any country, just that they call or use words that other spanish speaking countries used does not means that is a dialect. And yes you are correct, in cuba. the Dominican Republic and maybe Puerto Rico that work means wanker |

| I used Sony clie T625 and PalmM505 (using SonyClie Desktopsoftware) without any problems. Both palm and clie synchronized fine with outlook (and Desktop). I did not try it with palm software and Clie handheld.
