| Look, a decent tutorial page would make all the difference in the world. some of these "obvious" questions maybe should have been searched. but when one does, one comes up with lots of hits, but oblique references, lots of jargon, and sometimes outdated info! So the only real alternative is to put in one place a "how do I do this" step by step guide... takes about 10% more effort than writing a complete answer.
Who has the leadership qualities enough to make this happen?

| It could also be that you never activated your account. You can click here to have the e-mail activation re-sent.

| Also, answers to a number of the 'obvious' questions can be found in the FAQ

| well that is an obvious question that we should not answer. no just kidding.
A FAQ is great for quick questions like "how do I do a hard reset" which I was too embarassed to ask when I saw how some dumb questions get answered!
For something like "step by step in installing the PELACA hack for CF multimedia" this is too complicated for FAQ I guess...
PS there is a tutorial section at cliesource, but it is just about empty!

| Okay, good job. It was the fact that I had not "acivated" my acount by clicking the URl in my e-mail that was preventing me from being able to start a thread.
I read the FAQ regarding "why you should register" but that was not explained at all. I read quite a bit of the FAQ and I did not see this explained anywhere.
But I did get an answer quickly here, so thank you to all who read and or replied to my question.

| If we can get one person to write a step by step on certain topics and then have a sticky at the top of each forum with links to relevant topics we could save a lot of time. For example, in the general forum have a sticky at the top, in that sticky in the first post you post links to threads that explain stuff like:
A thread that explains simple answers to many problems(resets, certain software, things you'd expect a clie to do but it can't)
A thread that explains HOW to post, what info to include etc.
A thread that compares different models(maybe links to reviews, spec sheets)
A thread that explains general up keep(calibrating the digitizer etc.)
This would save a lot of time, and would be quite easy to set up. I would be willing to do a sticky in the nx forum including answers to the most often asked questions. Cheers, Ben

| I would take a stepwise approach:
first do a poll on what people think are the most important topics like to choose from:
1. play video from MS
2. play video from cf
3. rip a dvd
4. play music from ms (not as simple as it seems if you dont know the folder location!)
5, play music from cf
there are some obvious ones like:
backup data to MS
recover from crash
hard reset
warm reset (what is this one?)
or even some crash recovery strategies, or other things.
We could make a forum for ideas, and the willing expert could take one on every once in a while.
then collate all the info in the forum... all the info is there as many have noted.
It would be very fast for those who know the topic well, and would take a long time for relative nwbie like myself...
but I can tell you that the one thing that has kept me buying Sony is the valuable info you get on cliesource, and all of you people's help! An NX is a powerful tool, but without some tutoring, it is just a bulky Palm V with pretty colors!!
IF you all agree, we can post this modest proposal in GENERAL or at the top of the NX forum for example. then we can get a good sounding board.
PS too bad N2ifp is not around anymore, having gone to cousin T3 territory, but this is just the method to distill someone's great knowledge...

| I had a mini-NX FAQ on my website which is currently down right now. But I can contribute that info if anybody wants to get this started.

| Great another thread with a new person b*tching about sony this and sony that.
Get over it, dont like the company or products don't buy them. There are plenty of other options.

| Well copycat for some like me living in Japan we don`t have much choice If wanting to by a PDA. Sony outs sells palm T and other in their series 10 to 1. Prices are cheaper with sony PDA. I don`t want a PPC. So SOny is my only choice.
