| Great news! Great news, MetaView!!!!
These 2 programs are fantastic! 2PlayMe has been my favourite alarm clock, and PalmPDF is an amazing software that can view pdf files in the Palm.
Congratulations for your job! |

| On my Zodiac, after installing PalmPDF 1.2 to RAM and then using the To Card option to move what it usually does to the card, I'm left with a file bigger than 500k in RAM. Previous versions had this down to around 71k, if I remember right. Not a big deal--I moved the 500+k file to my card and created a shortcut to it in RAM using LauncherX--I just wondered if this was the normal size of the file left in RAM after using To Card.
...I just noticed a Strip PRC item in Options. Maybe I should try that after the To Card option? (But the shortcut I made is only 5k...) |

| The "strip PRC will" remove the fonts from the PRC. The fonts are not removed automatically with this new update to make it easier to use multiple card with PalmPDF and to always have the full PRC to send it to the one next to you ;-)
At the end you will have again around 100KB in RAM. If you don't need the receive functionality for PDF files, you can move the whole stuff to memory card and don't need any shortcut etc. PalmPDF isn't syncing with the desktop, therefore the shortcut isn't necessary. It runs just fine from the card. To move the renderer and then the remaining PRC to the card is a bit overkill :-)
Sos: the "skin maker" (download from the PalmPDF site) includes an example skin.
Regards
Henk

Ah. Thank you. I'll reinstall, then strip the .prc, move what's left to the card, then create a shortcut |

What do you mean the font are removed? Does this effect the quality of the rendered image? |

| He means that after the fonts are installed on your SD card, you can remove them from the original PRC to save filespace.

| Strip PRC: The PalmPDF.prc does also include the Fonts. They are there to make the installation of PalmPDF easier and copied to the memory card when PalmPDF doesn't find them on the memory card. Once copied to the memory card they could be removed from the PalmPDF.prc. In former versions, PalmPDF did remove the fonts automatically during first run. Version 1.2 doesn't do it anymore, but wait for the user to call "Strip PRC". The fonts still need to be on the memory card, regardless if you copy it on your own or use PalmPDF.prc to do it auomatically. The quality of the rendered image isn't affected at all, PalmPDF refuses to work, when it doesn't find the fonts.
Edit: _Em, exactly, that's what I wanted to say :-)

Either stripping the PRC or removing fonts renders the prc file 'corrupt' in the sense that you can't copy it to a card or back it up.
Periodically, PalmPDF will disappear from my RAM and I can't restore from backup so I need to keep the whole prc on card... |

You will get much more useful feedback here if you let us know what device and what version you are using! A little info goes a long way...
btw, a belated welcome to 1Src |
