| APT-titude What is APT doing for you?
I thought it might be good to post examples here of what APT can do. This is not intended to be a tutorial (unless requested) nor a bug thread, but rather a "look what I can do!" to generate inerest and ideas for use.
The ones I started with are very basic but very useful.
*default*
Auto-dim after 30 seconds of inactivity (var b used to turn off macro - Ex. RescoView)
Auto-Wifi disconnect (var h toggled on conn/disconn and app NetSwitchDA) - used when leaving Blazer or Versamail (or any app I call the Tag from) !!
Auto-launch RescoView when Camera card is inserted (also the brightness is increased)
Auto-launch CryptDrive when dedicated card is inserted
Blazer
BACK assigned to (0)Hard2
FORWARD assigned to (1)Hard2
RescoNeeews
HOME button assigned to (0)Hard1 - takes me to the main screen from inside newspaper
Popup Statbar assigned to (1)Hard1 (hidden by default) - so I can escape the app (need a "Home" da *hint hint*)
OperaMini
Auto-connect Wifi BEFORE launch (use var h again) - HUGE!!
BACK assigned to (0)Hard4 (text j) - it annoyed me that Opera thought to assign the Menu to Hard1 but nothing for Hard4 (seems natural to me)
CANCEL assigned to (1)Hard4 (text o) - BTW there are other text codes in OperaMini - mess around with the keyboard to find them
Like I said... just a start.
YOU need this app! I have eliminated at least three separate unheeded developer requests with the list above. If you have wished it before, with a little creative thinking and patience, you CAN have it now.
Lets hear yours. I am looking for ideas.

| I must say that I like the functionality in this program, however the one thing that keeps me from registering it is that it is tied to a specific device rather than a hot sync name. I use run several Palms regularly in my consulting work and like them to have identical RAM configurations. I also tend to bounce between my different Treo's depending upon my mood. This permits me from doing so, therefore I choose not to register. However, it does look like extremely functional software.

| Thanks for your thoughts, bh77a. That is a unique piece to this app. Works for me tho as I only have one device.

| Pocket Tunes
Objective: within pTunes use one skin when button is pressed to change orientation to Portrait and change to a different skin and view when button is pressed again to go into Landscape.
---
Apt profile: pTunes (starting out in Portrait)
oHrd2 --> Apt--> Call--> Land
(note: "Land" is the name of the tags I use in the Tags 1 profile)
Apt profile: *Tags 1* ONE
a--> Land--> Tag --> Disp -- RLand
(note: a is a variable which is initially set to zero (a = 0). You will only see the "L" in Land in the column view)
&--> Disp--> SBar~
(hide the status bar)
& --> Pen--> CBar--> S
(invoke pTune's menu for skin selection)
&--> Nav--> Dn--> 2
(navigate down to the skin of your choice. Mine is the second one down in my list of skins)
&--> Nav--> Cntr--> 2
(pressing the center key twice selects and activates the skin)
&--> Pen--> Tap--> 127,151
(taps a specific area of the Coverflow skin t change it to the appropriate view to show 3 album covers simultaneously)
&--> Apt--> Var+--> a
(increases the "a" variable by 1. Any number greater than 0 will tell Apt that it is in Landscape mode using the Coverflow skin in this example)
The next group of lines can be continued under the ONE button, but I used the TWO button instead.
*Tags 1* TWO
a--> L--> Tag--> Disp--> Port
(note: a > 0 You will only see the "L" in Land in the column view)
&--> Pen--> CBar--> S
(invoke pTune's menu for skin selection)
&--> Nav--> Dn--> 5
(navigate down to the skin of your choice. Mine is the fifth one down in my list of skins, namely, Photopro15PT_fs)
&--> Nav--> Cntr--> 2
(pressing the center key twice selects and activates the skin)
&--> Disp--> SBar~
(hide the status bar)
&--> Apt--> Var0--> a
(resets "a" variable back to zero for the next Landscape orientation switch)
There you have it!! =) Hope you find the info useful. |

| Sounds very interesting.
I tried the free version and it seems very capable but for me it was sort of difficult to use. No real documentation and all the settings are abreviated to hell! This was about 2 weeks ago so maybe things have changed.
Any tutorials on how to acomplish certain things with a bit of explenation on what the settings mean/do would be great.
Can Apt be set to perform certain actions after a reset? basicly make Treolauncher load the icon set I have loaded at the time.
Can Apt make the command bar come up while in opera mini? |

There is a great wiki site apt-palm.wikidot.com. Along the top are buttons representing sections of what would be classical documentation. Along the left is loads of good stuff which comprises tutorials, examples & pictures... Quote: |

| Yes. Quote: |

| You should be able to run/launch an app after TL loads. I'm sure if it requires more, all you'd have to do is post on the wiki & you'd get answers. Even tho the developer is on a well deserved vacation - he nearly burned himself out by knocking out many beta fixes & then 1.0, 1.1, & 1.2 in short order- he probably checks fm time to time & there are a few resident programmer types that have helped me become more aware of what Apt can do...& will likely be able to help you on this... Apt can bring up command bar, but I'm not sure about Opera mini as I'm not using it yet...
Take a look at the wiki & play w/Apt & enjoy. Good luck & let everyone know, here or there on the wiki.

| Besides being able to launch RescoBackup when my device recognizes the mounting of my SD card dedicated to backups, my fave use of Apt is to have the ability to bring up a launch-by-letter menu when in an app. I use it w/Datebk6, so I can see my schedule & go to any app I need right from there i.e. Splash Money if I have to make a deposit in the bank, or MemoLeaf when need to look up some tech notes I have there before going to a client to fix something that I have some procedural notes on.

| Ah. Once again I revive my own thread. Oh well.
A few new tricks...
RescoNeews
Auto-scroll - (2)NavR increases var d (on/off) then Idle* (forever) to Nav Right every 7 seconds when d > 0 - setting var d to 0 turns off the scroll ("home" button, (2)NavL, Exit)
AWCasino
Auto-play in Slots - (idea from the above RN macro) - right grafitti stroke sets var d > 0 (on) - Idle* will hit Cntr every 3 seconds - left stroke to set var d to 0 (off) Works like a charm. Sit back and watch the $$$ roll in
Any one else using Apt?
EDIT: Forgot to mention one other thing. This may be obvious, but...
I found that you can use Pruss' NOP creator panel to create empty apps and use them in conjunction with Apt. I have not fully explored how to use this, but I expect one can make additional custom triggers in ZL top/btm bars and your fav launcher. I will be testing this option and will let you know if it proves useful.

J^3 ~ I followed your development of this macro. Quite involved. Good to see you got it working the way you wanted.

technical1~ Thanks for adding a link to the wiki. I thought to do that but forgot.
I have not ventured into the realm of lists quite yet. I have to think through what my needs are. There are so many ways to use Apt it is mind boggling. Partly why an idea thread might be nice.

| It is such a good idea that I put one up on the wiki, a while back, but this one here seems to justify itself... good stuff being shared & since not everyone goes to the wiki...

| I plan to join the wiki soon. I do not have my laptop right now tho.
Update on the NOP idea. Does not work. I think b/c NOP does nothing Apt cannot catch anything (ie. notifications, etc.). I tried using the pre-launch event but it did not play well (screen froze or was blank). This is off topic so that is all about that.

| Simple one: When launching Netfront, put the DIA down. For some reason NF forgets the last setting. |

| if you mean netfront on palm using maxx then i recommend you leave the dia alone...it took a lot of effort to get it to work at all, and messing with it will onyl cause you trouble

| OK, maybe I shouldn't be doing that. I haven't had any trouble with that configuration, but you certainly know more about what's going on behind the scenes. So I'll not do that any longer. ;( |
