| Hey Wellsjs,
Now that I have a TX and a TH55, does that make me an honorary multi-owner. Afterall, a few people on these forums have referred to the TX as the "New TH55".
Please, please, please - HeHe, HaHa
BTW - I really do like my new TX - if you don't need the camera and voice recorder - and if you don't use the Clie Organizer, the TX is a great replacement for when the TH55 goes kaput!

| Hi Dan,
Actually I am undecided at the moment - however, I am thinking it may be worth holding onto as a backup - you never know when something may happen to the TX - it's nice to know that there is another unit ready to go. I have a Tungsten T that I kept around as a backup, but I am now thinking of selling that and using the TH in its place. I don't need the extra $100 to $150 that I can get if I sell the TH instead of the Tungsten, although if the TH just sits in my drawer it will certainly be worth less a year from now. I'll decide soon - I will sell one or the other.

| I use my T|X as a backup to my TH now. The camera is great, I don't have to bring my books into work anymore to study, I just take a pic and use Piscel Viewer. Thanks sony!

| Welcome to the club olderTechnology! I just got through charging my spare this morning. An Agendus ToDo reminds me monthly to slap a fresh charge on it. I switch devices every six months (also scheduled by a ToDo).

| Wow -- it arrived yesterday and I pulled it out last night. The guy sold it as a "hardly used" model, and that's exactly what it is. I forgot how the buttons used to have a subtle roughness to the finish. In fact the whole unit feels different. The power button has three whole plastic raised dots on it!
I don't know about you folks, but my power button was getting mighty loose, and the left/right buttons on the back of the unit were getting harder and harder to operate. I would hit them one time, and it wouldn't register. So I'd hit 'em harder. The worst symptom of age was the increased "spokes" where the digitizer was thinking I was pressing on the center of the screen. I've re-positioned the screen protector multiple times, but with no improvement.
I'm hoping the like-new model will carry me two more years. By then, something as good as a TH55 might be available!! |

If my auto-lock has timed out, I am taken to my TealLock password screen, all without putting wear and tear on the somewhat weak On/Off slidder button.

| After a year of using that Power on/off slider button, I felt it slided a little bit easier than when it was new, so I started to minimize using that button, as it is the ONLY HOLD button available, and began to spread the wear to other buttons. I have 7 ways to power on (via power on/off slider, Voice Rec slider - via dmitrygr's trick, Capture button via THe Go! Go!, and 4 hard buttons on the bottom) and 6 ways to lock & off (Power on/off slider, Capture button -via The Go! Go! as mentioned above, Back button-hold via ZLauncher, soft button in ZLauncher bottom bar, soft button in Zlauncher QLA extension, and Palm Auto-off after 2 min).
That TH55 is over 2 years old now and probably one of the oldest one (SN3006xxx) around with all fully functioning hard buttons. And yes, the power on/off slider still has 3 distinct knobs where you can use your finger nail to slide the button up/down.
If you need any repair/replacement of those wornout buttons, I'll be happy to do it for half the cost of Sony repair.
