| Mac-friendly database app? What are Mac people using these days for a database app on the Palm?
I used to use HanDBase, but I would love to find something that syncs and allows viewing records on the Mac.
Can anyone comment on the Filemaker app? Any other suggestions? |

| I find I don't need a database program that often (Handy Shopper does pretty much everything DB-wise that the built-in apps don't cover), but when I've needed something in the past, I always used Pilot-DB, the free open source app -- it has a Java implementation that'll run on any Java-capable PC.

| This page mentions an application that allows you to export filemaker databases to MobileDB. I've never used it though.

| I've used JFile as a front end for a Filemaker database with FMSync as a conduit with good results. The only problem is that FMSync is no longer supported - still available at sourceforge.net/projects/fmsync/, but won't work with Filemaker versions after 6. Beginnning to have a little wonky behavior with my upgrade to 10.4.4, so I'm not sure whther its useful days are numbered.

That seems to be the problem-- no one supporting Mac OS anymore. |

Len,
You can use JFile Companion instead. Works really well. it's not free though.

| Kenny,
It seems from the documentation that JFile companion is a System 9 app and doesn't interface directly with Filemaker, no? Would be a step backward for me.
Javabird - Haven't downloaded HanDBase, but it seems to me from the website description that its Mac desktop component is stand-alone , that it would generate tab delimited text that you could then import into Filemaker. Am I wrong?

| Well, it's not working for me, but I'm using FM 5.5 so maybe that's the problem. |

| Just figured out that the reason my Jfile FMSync Filemaker combination was acting a little wierd was that I was using Missing Sync 4.05 - not the last revision 4.06 - Just reinstalled 4.06 and everything is fine in System 10.4.5. Javabird you might try JFile especially if version 5.5 is adequate for your needs. It has worked fine for me for several years.
