| WL100 and Mac Users - worth it? I am not one of the lucky few who managed to pick up a WL100 card from Best Buy or got price matched with CC/CompUSA/etc. For me, and many others, I'll have to justify spending $90-$100 on the PEG-WL100.
As of now, it appears as though wirelessly:
---
1) One cannot sync email with MS Entourage or OS X Mail
2) There are no good web browsing solutions for the NX series to make use of the widescreen/fullscreen
3) One cannot hotsync with Palm Desktop 4.0
Because of these reasons, I cannot justify spending so much for so little. My question is, for those of you who own the WL100 on your clie, has it been worth it? What do you use it for? Can you use it outside of your home/private setup or can you jump on, for instance, your office's Airport signal?
Thanks for any input

| airport signal shouldn't be a problem. any wireless router should work. Has for me. Even Tmobile @ starbucks, though I haven't signed up for the service. It's fun, not a necesity, unless you want to do the ftp upload thing, or use it to send movies or pictures to yourself in the mail. It's just a fun little device worth it to me even @ the 150 I paid for it.

| Very much worth it!
While I can't sync via the card, I can get on the Airport networks at home and at work do email and surf the web. The included programs do work full screen and I haven't had any major issues with NetFront that some others complain about.
I also spent the full price on the card and definitely consider it well worth it. |

| I bought the Sony WiFi card and I have to say, I'm very disappointed. I didn't do my research and assumed that I could sync with my Mac, ooops, guess what? As far as accessing the internet via my NX, I don't really see the big deal. So, I have a week old Sony WiFi card if anyone wants to buy it for about 100 bucks davidcrain@mac.com |

#6 | | Guest | Thanks for the input folks... I'm going to start saving my pennies and hope the WL100 drops to about 80 bucks, then pick one up. | |

| can anyone give me a simple step-by-step on setting up the card for my nx-70v to my Airport?
I am too dense to figure out all these WEP, Adhoc/Infrastructure terms....
Why cant sony do a "auto-detect" button like osx and end the hours of hair-pulling? |

| Hmmm...
I have the old airport base ... does the Wi-Fi card from sony work on it too???
I've figured that if it does... it might be worth it to buy the Wi-Fi card...

| herpalm: can you tell me exactly how you have the preferences set-up on the clie for wireless?
Ive pretty much tried every different combination... the farthest iVe gotten is that it seems to connect, i get the dancing signal bar (in netfront3) but the webpages never come up and eventually the connectiion times out.
Mac-users shouldnt have to deal with winblows-headaches |

| i run always run the newest software and hardware. (os10.2.6/tiG4-DVI/airPortXtreme-setup for 802.11b-only).
So you thinking this may be an issue with osx/firmware then? cuz when i did the setup in airPort-Admin, it initiated a self-upgrade to airport software.
Hmmmm. |
