| Possiblly a screen to replace my HD 30". This is just a rumor, but Apple might be announcing a screen that displays 4520x2540.
If it's true, Apple will either be releasing a rather large screen, so that the pixels aren't microscopic, or updated the OS so that all elements are resolution dependent. Some of the menus are still locked to a set point size.

And you make fun of the competition....
I don't know of any graphics cards outside of medical greyscale systems that have a resolution that high. However, if they take dual signals from a graphics card, you may be right if one of the numbers is off a little. Let me know when they release it.
I can't afford it, but I can at least drool over it.

| Who meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...
I'm sure it's just a matter of enabling it, since past version of Mac OS supported different pt sizes in the menus. When and if Apple releases a larger screen, the OS will have complete support for its higher rez.
At least the entire GUI is already GPU accelerated, I wouldn't want to run a 30" on any current Windows PC.

| piece of cake! I run Windows PCs with dual 1920x1200 monitors every day, total combined resolution near your 30". I even do full up-3D graphics at that resolution with large panoramas of landscapes generated from USGS and satelite maps.
Any problem Windows might have with such resolution can be made up with a little bit of skill and knowledge of how graphics cards work and how to do what you want with them. It is always harder when you use a screwdriver as a chisel, and a chisel as a screwdriver. Knowledge goes far. So either I am a miracle worker, or Windows can do a little more than you think.

| When the GPU is chugging away all is fine. But for standard GUI windows under Windows; Blah!!! I should've have noted that I would make an exception for Maya and only if more games supported it on the dark-side.
I just don't like Window's GUI performance, even on a 15" LCD. It's noticeably slower than my Macs, since it's still stuck in the stone-age of relying on the 2D graphic accelerator. But I do know that Windows can give a window 100% GPU use, which is of course why I would make an exception for the above items. Scrolling speed is also decent in some cases.
