| Any good freeware to convert PDF to HTML? I know this isn't a Palm app, but I have much better luck viewing HTML files on my Zire72.
I found one called PDF Ripper. It's a desktop app, and it's a trial, but I don't like it cause it doesn't format the pages anywhere near what they look like in the original PDF.
What does everyone here use when/if they want to convert a PDF to an HTML webpage?
Thank you,
Jon |

| How about PDFtoHTML at Sourceforge? It's free but I haven't tried it since it's for Windows. Let me know if it works. |

| Thank you both, I'll try both of them.
Since I "found" picsel browser, I always save web pages for viewing on my Palm Zire 72. The browser formats the saved pages very well and don't need to be scrolled sideways like most PDF files do.
EDIT: Joel,
It took me awhile, had to download 10MB ghostscript with it. The results are much better than the program I mentioned above, (PDF Ripper). I think part of my problem is: I'm trying to convert a game manual. (EDGE) It is one of those booklet things that has 2 columns of text in a horizontal format. and there is a lot of blank space at the end of a lot of pages. It makes the resulting HTML file look like pages are missing, but it is just the blank areas from the original. Plus an open "chart like" list of levels up doesn't format correctly, but probably would have if it was in a table with a border.

| Thank you alegra,
But Pdaconverter requires Proxomitron be installed on the PC and also requires Plucker on the Palm. I've already tried this setup, but didn't try converting PDF files with it. Plucker uses a format that only Plucker can read.
I like the way Picsel reads native HTM and HTML documents. I can just save a webpage with the image folder and all, then place this onto my SD card and picsel will open and scale the images and fonts into a readable format in 320x320.

| Why not just use PalmPDF to read the PDF off the card?

| bh77a,
PalmPDF doesn't "Wrap" the text in a PDF like Picsel does with HTM files. On my Zire72, the text in PalmPDF is either too small to read, or I have to zoom and scroll sideways. Also, Picsel loads both filetypes much faster than PalmPDF.

| Jon_J: Just make a PalmDOC out of it. Ok, images aren't converted, but you can't get everything :-)

Proxomitron?! What's that? I just installed pdaConverter (but I remember that it searched for the Plucker Parser) and it converted PDF files to HTML - and it worked, I could read it with Plucker. And images were displayed. You need Plucker and converter on your desktop, that's all.

| Proxomitron Proxomitron was/is a kind of proxy program for Windows, in which different kinds of filters are set up. A browser (or whatever) accessing web sites through Proxomitron will show the documents filtered by Proxomitron.
Objective: clean the sites, remove trash, ads, etc.
Why? Better reading, etc.
It comes bundled with pdaConverter, and is an option to clean HTML pages before converting to Plucker.
It's pretty interesting, but I usually download the whole site with HTTTrack, and then clean using regular expressions (BKReplacem, in Windows). And then convert to Plucker.
Now, talking about Picsel Browser: WHERE can I get the files to put on my TX (T|X)?

| I searched, but links to download were broken. Quote: | Originally Posted by T3_slider

I know, and I did search, but as I said, the links for the downloads are / were broken, so that is why I asked again. I will re-check the topic.
Thanks,
Mickets
