Nice, sounds like it should fix all the problems I have been hearing about...

Sounds like "too little, too late".

Ya, it fixes the annoyances, but what about the crashes? What about the horribly slow performance?

I'm still glad I sold my LifeDrive on eBay and picked up a TX.

dont have time to set it up now but it does look very promising. I am particularly interested by the new hard reset option - extraordinary really given the original hype about security for corporate devices etc etc.

Wait... I think your statement is quite unfair. You haven't tested the update yet you're saying "too little, too late."

I haven't had any crashes in my LifeDrive since I've read help notes from the forums here. As for the slow performance, I don't find it horrible at all... what were you running? But your opinion is valid though, rlauzon. We have different needs in a PDA after all

Now, has anyone tried this yet? I don't have my LD right now, so I can't verify how good this update is.

Could this update turn any Palm Brick into a Mobile Manager?

I would go further than Joel and say this is a little ridiculous. The description of the update would suggest that stabilty issues are the first thing that will be improved. What is your point really?? I suspect whoever bought your LD will get some really good use out of it while you wait for the TX update to fix BT issues etc etc!!! LOL

Since the LD is the only palm that could be remotely described as a brick, you must be right...

I have it installed and I am testing apps. So far so good. Even seems faster. "However that may be because of the defrag that happens when you erase memory and reload" but I will say looks good for to me thus far.

I wonder if I will still need Resco Locker? I'll keep it on just in case.

NOW should I drop my T3 for a lifedrive?

I have really coveted the LD since it came out but was holding back. Then the TX arrived but for some reason I didn't pick it up - not enough of a move from my T3 (with WiFi card, despite the battery etc issues).

So what is the consensus now, is this enough of an update to 'fix' the brick?

Restoring my device now. I played around a little beforehand, and it seemed every bit as fast as my old T3 was.

I'll give a full report later tonight when I've restored my data and gotten it working again.

I just downloaded and applied the patch. It's a long process (about 20-30 minutes) but straight forward.

Some stuff I noticed after the update:

- my LD seems snappier a bit (ie: more responsive to pen taps)
- I'm still getting the infamous bug in Blazer where it says that you don't have enough memory to download a file (grin!).
- They seem to have improved/eliminated the static problem between tracks when listening to MP3s
