| WindowBlinds 5.0!!! Check it out at: Stardock.com
This release incorporates some of the new GUI changes that everyone will see in the upcoming MS Vista operating system. As a long time WB "skinner," I love this new version, with its transparent toolbar.
If you tried WB in the early days and found it bogged down your PC's speed (which it did), you might want to check out WB 5.0. There is some coding (under the hood) that actually increases system performance over the conventional Windows XP performance. I'm running WB 5.0 and IconPackager and my 3GHz processor system smokes!
P.S. If you're into eye candy, this is heaven! The best deal at Stardock is to purchase their "Object Desktop" @ $49.95. This gives you license to about 15 different skinning applications, including WindowBlinds and IconPackager.
From another website: Quote: |
Windows Vista will bring a new user interface that features glass-like title bars and alpha blended windows. But with the upgrade a year away, Stardock has released WindowBlinds 5 to offer XP users the same features now.

| Hi,
Should this not be over in the off topic forums?
Just curious.

| I tried WB last month before the update and loved the Vista skins!! I might get it again once I get paid this month and can cough up the dough to actually buy it (the shareware reminders were getting rather annoying, and I think lead to its instability, as it caused several errors and PC restarts). Thanks for the info, Wells!
Update: Dl'ed the new version, and it seems more stable, but I can't open the configuration menu!!! And I'm grumpy that the shareware version won't allow me to play with the "glass" transparency settings. Grrr...

| I'm a long-time satisfied Stardock customer. Their apps just keep getting better and better. My favorites are WindowBlinds, ObjectDock Plus and IconPackager.

| I used WB and bought the set of apps for $50. I remember adding the individual prices up and it came out to ~$200; so $50 isnt that bad.
Object Dock is quite nice. I used it, and had as many apps in it as I do now on my Mac. I think I need to get it all going on our WinMediaCtr PC downstairs, as I havent used any of it since I got my Mac...
