| i want that!! ^^
My Questions:
1.where did you got this adapter from... or do you build it yourself....
2. can you give us a easy-to-understand- how to?
3. how big could be that harddrive.... only 4 gb or more?
i think that with the battery is because of: the external hardrives always need extra power... at home i have one with 40 gb.......... others get there power from the USB.....
maybe thats the problem......
thank you JAmerica for giving me hope for an external harddrive........

| Attention people: i read in a german magazine that it is a bad idea to power harddisks from USB entirely. many manufacturers dont fully abide to the USB specifications and can fry the ports of subnotebooks,... . So, the magazine reccomends to use the power cord that shipped with the disk whenever possible! |

| Cool, man! This was what the Lifedrive should be! (Clamshell with HD)
Maybe you should get one yourself, open it up and try some mods such as adding an external power supply for the HD; or even putting in a 20gig HD
Actually, it would be much more elegant if it was just a 4gig memorystick, but I don't think much people can afford a 4gig MS(or is it avaliable yet??) Also, we don't know if that FAT32 driver is compatable with a a 4gig MS, since Sony is already reporting incompatabilities with Clies and 1gig black memorysitcks...
---
By the way (off topic), I was always wondering how you kept your UX in such good condition? My 2-year-old NX is chipping off paint on several places. |

| Well I saw some 4gb memory sticks going for $120-$160 on Ebay, so if you find yourself a good deal you could have just the memory stick rather than the external hard drive. |

| I don't recommend this at all. Just showing its possible. This thing is basically a CF to MS converter.

| Surely that is an option to prolong drive operating time then?

| Even with Fat32.prc installed on my UX50, I'm not able to listen to music OR view movies on my FAt32 formatted Memory Stick. How are you able to view the movies with your 4GB HDD? Maybe it's a problem on my end, clarify that for me JAm. |
