Alot of frustration Well I am sorry to here that you find IRC to suck. I have since clieflix.com went down I have been hosting my files there (and yes that includes support for the N760 because I used to own one) an so far I have serve in the past couple of months over 30gb. with no problems.
Maybe you're not in the right server/channel, because where we're at we have lots of people there willing to help out new users with anything and everything regarding how to use mIRC or how to find files or who even has those files...
If you don't have the details try us out one more time:
/server irc.nullus.net
/join #clie
Cheers!

| Joethc I tried helping you and referred you to a couple sources for more information. However I had to leave to go somewhere at the time. If you come back to the channel I will help you more. It is quite easy once you figure it out, especially if you carefully read the directions.

| i haven't gotten over the IRC learning curve...!!!
i am still in IRC hell!!
just venting my frustration a little..
my question... why can't we just have a site or ftp with downloadable files???
why does it have to be so difficult?? why this whole IRC business to begin with? |

#9 | | Guest | Because multiple people share files on IRC, and only one person can share the files on a web site. Also on web sites you cant easily manage traffic and sends. IRC also has chat, so people can help each other and talk about Palm stuff and encoding etc. You can also easily resume files on IRC. It's not too hard to learn, if you'd only read a little. Type /help while in IRC, and read the beginners guide. If you dont read anything, you're going to be lost. | |

I do, just not too many files, and its too slow, and it uses an ip addy instead of a domain name. But aside from that...

| IRC has another benifit
a website can only have so much on it. Most of the sites i've seen only have short clips, seeing the files shared on IRC are on peoples home computers they have a huge selection.
it can be a little slow at times (around 25k/s) but when you can choose from over 100 gigs of files and have friendly people there to help you out irc is realy the best method of shareing.
some would say use kazaa but anybody who uses it knows there is a ton of spam the danger of virus and kazaa takes up a ton of your cpu even on a GHz system

| MY biggest issue with IRC is that there doesn't appear to be a client for Solaris (SunOS) that uses Fserve (like mIRC on Windows). I don't have net access on a windows machine and the Macs I have access to I don't have install permissions. I was able to log onto the #clie channel but not much else. |

| If you don't like mIRC, use something else, like Pirch or Besirc. Just type "irc client" into google and see what happens. |
