Smile Apps That Look Great but Suck

'what apps have you bought' seems to be a popular theme and comes up again and again.

Looking over them it seems to me that there are some applications that look great but, after you install them and possibly even register, they seem never to quite live up to those great expectations.

They end up gathering dust on the PDA until finally they are quietly deleted.

So how about a list of applications that looked great, but for whatever reason, never quite realised what they promised?

For me, it's usually games that fall into this category. At the top of the list would have to be Monopoly. The AI is not very good and it gets really boring after awhile. Very disappointing after how much it cost.

Contacts 4. Good use of color, but way too busy. I deleted the demo after about 5 minutes.

I agree with that. That's the first app I thought of. WAAAAAAAAAAAY too much stuff . . .

Kindof like ZL with all the stuff showing.

Thanks! You've reminded me to play around with skin designs for Fitaly. I'm thinking if it's all greyscale, it'll fit well with the default status bar and graffiti area. Hmmm... I think I'll make a separate post for this soon.

But the new ZL allows you to hide "all the stuff showing."

SilverScreen and FireViewer.

SilverScreen was the first launcher I purchased. I thought it looked great. I found some themes and all was well. Then I waited for more themes. And waited. And waited. And waited. Thank goodness for ZL!

FireViewer isn't a bad app, it's just that I found AcidImage after purchasing it. AI basically does everything I bought FireViewer for, and is updated more frequently.

Yup. That's EXACTLY what I do.

The screenshots of the 320x320 screens with **EVERYTHING** showing just looks horrendous (and yes, I KNOW they're showing the icons, etc.).

I can't imagine . . . bleh! (For me anyhow . . . 'MY' ZL is simple and elegant and does what I want it to.

Thanks to ClieSource, I've been steered away from wasting money on many, many apps that just seemed like "I gotta hav'em"s.
This board will save you money and time.
