| The Missing Sync 5.0 (OS X) With support for new Sync Services technology in Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, Address Book and iCal data synchronization is greatly improved. Now calendar categories, multiple addresses, Birthdays, IM addresses and other fields are synchronized. There's synchronization for iTunes playlists and iPhoto albums, and photos taken with camera-enabled devices can be sent right to iPhoto. Mac/Palm sync has never been this good. [ details] |

| I've just discovered that The Missing Sync 5.0 actually costs $39.95. It's $24.95 if you have a previous version. If you bought The Missing Sync after October 1, 2005, it's a free upgrade.
I'm still considering if v5.0 is worth the $24.95 upgrade price. |

Looks nice, I'll give it a try, but I sure wish they would give us a bigger break on the upgrade price! Especially if you have paid the upgrade price a few times before. |

| Is $25 really worth that? I really don't think so. But I don't organize my data on my iBook, I just keep it there for backup

Updating from v3 to v4 was only $19.95. This one costs $24.95... wonder why the increase? Seems like a smaller upgrade than the last one. anyway, just download the software off their main page. You can install and get a 14 day trial then decide if you like it. |

| So like cgarrett1974 said; it does what we always wanted it to do. Does that mean the Palm's categories will sync TO iCal and not only other way around?

| Yeah
We really shouldn't have to pay for this. It is a rip-off. It should be a free update...

| Yes, it's worth the upgrade I've used MS for some time now and today I stumped up the $24.95 to upgrade. This is a significant upgrade with new features and a significant re-design of the interface. I don't mind paying for a piece of software that is critical to the efficient partnering of my Palm and Mac.
Frankly, I always upgrade MS because:
1) MS does a fantastic job of synching.
2) The product is of high quality and well thought-through
3) Mark/Space support is excellent - I received good service when I had problems with version four
4) Mark/Space is keeping Palm alive on the Mac platform while Palm itself shows little interest in the OS I choose to run!
Oh yeah, I had NO trouble with the install, which is more than can be said for some other product upgrades I have attempted.

YES, YES, YES! I love it! You can then setup your Palm category colors to match what you have setup in iCal... for a total transparent experience! You can even dictate what calendars sync to the calendar AND tasks. So if you have a calendar in iCal that you would never use as a category in Tasks, you don't have to sync it!
To answer your question more specifically, the only "catch" is you cannot create categories on the Palm and sync them over. They HAVE to be in iCal first. Frankly, this is not a big deal; I just created all of my categories/calendars in advance. So to answer your question, if you have existing categories on the Palm, they will not sync over. You have to create calendars in iCal, then, assign the appropriate calendar to the appointments and tasks you want. Maybe a big deal, but it is a one-time issue though. Took me maybe 1/2 to setup. But the benefit is SOOOOO worth it in my opinion!
