Install JAVA from Palm Developer Suite 1.2 CD ROM

I am having difficulties installing J9 JVM on Zire 72. (palmOne web site claims that Zire 72 supports IBM webshere).

WEME 5.7 User Guide instructions indicates that I need to hotsync J9JavaVMMidp20.prc (14k) and j9pref.prc (9k)from the directory JVM/ARM4T.

I do not have a ARM4T directory in my JVM folder only a "Simulator" directory which does contain the files above. I am not sure if these .prc are only for the simulator or also for the handheld.

If I hotsync these two files, then install the Golf Midlet example, then try to run the midlet example on a Zire 72 I get the message

"The application required to view this data cannot be found".

And I cannot find the JVM in the launcher. I can see J9 Java options in Prefs.

Further reading in the user guide indicates that I should have the following .prc (as viewed through APP)

IBM Java VM
j9 Java Launcher
j9 Exchanger
j9 Java Options
J9 MIDP bundle

I only have j9 Java VM, j9 Java options and the Golf Midlet.

Am I installing the incorrect .prc?
Are there another set of instructions that accurately describe how to install Java?

Hi,

You can find WEME and a JVM installer (psi runtime) at Palmsource, you need to be registered :
