My charger didn't come with my Tungsten E since it was used and had no charger. So I bought the charger off Ebay. It works fine. But I notice that the cord to the charger can be detached from the AC unit. When you detach it, you realize it's a phone cord! Is this standard for all the chargers. Or did I just get a special one.
And what is the purpose of the phone cord? In any way can this connect to some sort of modem? Or can you just electrically charge your Palm from a phone line?
I no there's no universal connecter, and is therefore not compatible with the PalmModem. Which leads to a complaint! Why is "PalmModem" an option is the USB/HotSync menu on the Tungsten E, when the PalmModem isn't even compataible with E!? I phoned Palm, and they couldn't answer that question.
sorry but you can't do anything with that, pretty many of the chargers and such (in other devices) come with a detachable cord, I also doubt if that is actually RJ-11 plug and not just some that looks like it (I have one such (looks a bit like it, but not rj-11) charger for a cell phone)
Also in a charger even if the plug itself would be the same the pin configuration would be different and incompatible

Thats pretty common in other devices. If you owned an Ericcson T-28 mobile phone, same type of charger with the "phone jack". DOesn't mean anything special - its just convenient and cheap method.
