| Hello again!/Question about Sony Speaker Cradle I just wanted to thank everyone again who helped me get the Sony Game controller connected to my TJ27. It is really simple, and I'd suggest anyone who has a TJ series Clie interested in getting the controller do so. It actually works, despite Sony's official stance that it does not. If anyone wants to know how, I or someone should be more than happy to help out. It's a definite must-have for anyone playing any sort of games on their Clie, in particular the LJP emulator.
OK, then, on to my question, which is sorta related to this. In some fashion in how I got the Controller connected to my Clie, is there a way to connect the speaker cradle made for various models? It doesn't say specifically for the TJ series, in fact, I only think it is "officially" compatible with the T series. I don't have the speaker now but I figured it would be great to have (some games like LJP require sound coming from a source my model's built-in speakers can't provide) in the future if I knew there was a way to connect it to my particular model.

| First, I don't know how you're planning to play games attached to a cradle unless you got some sort of extension cord for your controller...
The T series connector is universal and is compatable with the TH, TJ, TG, NX and NZ (correct?) models. Now, getting your Clie to fit into the groove is a different story. I believe someone had ordered a speaker cradle here not so long ago and was wondering the same thing, but hasn't posted any follow-ups. The TJ27 is equipped with a monaural speaker, so I don't believe it has the required libraries to play sound files. Even if you were to get it to fit, you'll need someone to give you the required files in order for it to actually work. I believe there was a thread about this (trying to get an audio adapter to work with a SJ or SL) made a while back in which it was successful, so if you're interested, you may want to find that thread for the list of files.

Hmmm, thanks, I'll do some searching around here, maybe I can find the person who bought the speaker, see if they had any luck. Well, I guess if I was using the cradle for sound in my games, the controller would have to come off and I could just use the keys. This is sounding more difficult the more I think about it. I have a similar issue as to why Warfare Inc. won't play sound on my model, yet I know some one who has a SJ-22 and it does indeed play sound, but quietly so. I asked for their help there and they only suggested redownloading the game including the SFX file. That did nothing. All of the sound options in the game for me is just the mute box, and it won't uncheck. This along with LJP, are I think just about the only games on my device that won't play sound. I find it epecially unusual for Warfare Inc. considering the Sj22 is Palm 4 and mine is Palm 5. I guess this has nothing to do with it, but I just find it curious.
Thanks again. I'll keep an eye out for those sound files.

(The tj27 is a low-end OS 5 device with a piezo buzzer instead of a speaker)

The SJ22 runs on 4.1 so that's probably it. Your only solution ATM would be the cradle or audio adapter to work.

| Thanks for your help. I'll keep my fingers crossed about fixing this issue in Warfare Inc...

| hey Area 51, I'm very interested in how you got the game controller to work on a TJ series clie. I always thought that it was only made for lower OS devices, and that there was no OS5 driver to be found. Could you tell me more on that subject? |

Sure thing. I'm not gonna be like some people and tell you to search for it, so I'm going to be kind enough to do some digging around here and point you in the right direction. Getting the controller to work on these models is actually the easy part, with a little work. You know how that little removable piece that comes off when you want to extend or retract the black cable? Just follow the instructions to remove that little plastic part and extend it (you'll pretty much need it like that) but do not put it back on before connecting the controller to your handheld. The only side effect of using it is you won't be able to use the Power/Hold switch while it's on, but it'll work fine. I'd recommend not sliding the controller up onto it from the bottom (as this will hit the Hold switch) but taking the controller so that the top edge is lined up with the very top of the Graffiti area and then gently snapping it down into a position where its firmly in place. Again the key is not using that little plastic piece to recover the area where the black cable goes when extending the cable.
You'll first need to install the Game Controller app on your handheld, so that it is recognized. This direct link should take you directly to the PRC file, hope this still works: http://www.nccl.sony.co.jp/download...meConLoader.prc
Anyways, Hotsync it into main memory, and then run it at least once to initialize it. It may ask you to reset, can't remember. Anyways, in its settings screens I recommend of course the first option enabling the controller and disabling key emulation when using an emulator (LJP is by far the best) and enabling for other games or experiment by turning key emulation off and see what works best, each game reacts differently to the controller. LJP, also, will be able to use X and Y, but a lot of game likely won't. In the last page of options for the gamecon app I recommend setting X to "Game 1" and Y to "Game 2" or vice versa. Hope this helps!
Also, if you get LJP, let me know and I can help you with that too. Setting keys within that program requires a few tricks, like assign a key in its config screen by holding down the key you want for each button down before and while you tap Assign. This tends to work better, and you may need reprogram the keys each time you run the modules within LJP. Also, remember you can use the camera shutter button as a key during emulation too!
Well I hope this has been helpful, and if you need further help, don't hesitate to let me know.
