I work with large video files and have never defragged. (However, if you work with video, it's better to have a separate drive or partition to put the video on.) Defragging takes a long time and it's quicker and easier just to clone to another drive, using something like CarbonCopyCloner, wipe the drive, and clone everything back. I've only done this once in 2 years, though.

If you don't leave your Mac running all the time, some people recommend you use a tool like MacJanitor (freeware--check VersionTracker.com) to occasionally run the nightly routines that Unix would normally do at 3 am.

me again!

I wanted to start using the TH55 now with the iMac but can't find the Palm Desktop for Clie to download anywhere. At both Apple and Palm it only mentions Palm Desktop for the various Palm models and the Visors. Where do you guys get it from?

I'd like to try that before investing in Missing Sync!

You have to download palm desktop for one of the various other models. Then you have modify it to work with your TH55. This modification can be doen with TextEdit or a special updater app and all the info is here http://www.1src.com/forums/showthre...ht=missing+sync

I have to say I love the iMac more and more with each day! I now have my TH55 syncing (using Missing Sync), SplashWallet is updated and everything is roses so far! Guess the real test will come should I ever have to hard reset the Clie but hopefully that day won't come for a long time

Hiya, sorry for reviving this old thread but I'm thinking about this as well, though not for palm. The main worry I have is my itunes media. I have it all located on an external Hitachi drive, if I simply plug that hard drive into a mac, will it read all my itunes media or does Mac OS require a different memory format? The drive is of course formatted from Windows XP. Thanks in advance ^_^/

It'll read and write a FAT-32 formatted drive just fine; it reads NTFS-formatted drives, but there is no default support for writing data to an NTFS volume. For that, you need a third party solution such as MacFUSE or Paragon

Thanks glad to hear that. It would have sucked to burn all my media on a DVD then rip it back onto the mac. That saved me a lot of time there.
