I am always way behind the curve on all things Palm, but thought I would post this here for anyone else who may come along in the future and need it.
For some time now I have been struggling to try and connect to a friends router. I tried changing all kinds of settings on the LifeDrive including manually specifying the IP address and all network configuration details, but connection to the router was spotty at best. For some reason it even acted like you couldn't see the SSID broadcast.
I then went and changed a number of settings on the router itself until I found of the one setting that made it all work.
Apparently Linksys has mangled the B portion of the Mixed broadcast mode (which broadcasts all three 802.11x formats of B, G and N). Because the router defaults to this mixed mode you may have trouble connecting your Palm device to these newer Linksys routers if you leave it there.
The solution is to change it to Mixed B-G. Then it works flawlessly!
It is of course a bummer if you have to connect any N devices to the router (They will still work, but you just won't get the faster speeds), but in my case that is not an issue.
Do you think the firmware of the router supports more than 1 hard drive? Has anyone tried this? Can someone test it out for me if you have the right equipment?
