I have tried it allready twiced, and it worked very well.
I do this this way :
Regular hard reset starter - hold the power button and press the reset.
wait for the menu.
press down (for full format)
wait 1 sec
press reset.
that's all, the palm will delete the inner memory, but the HD will be safe ))
enjoy )) |

I was thinking "blueball reset". The LD gets all excited thinking it's going to get to do a full erase.. then, rejected. It's sad that that's what first came to mind. |

| Dunno if it's mentioned somewhere, but be careful to wait at least 1 second before you abort the secure hard reset. If you reset too early, it will either go into a reset loop until you unplug the battery (or battery gets empty) or it will destroy the bootloader, killing your device. |

| After you install the LifeDrive Update 2.0, you are given a new option when you hard reset.
After the update you have four options:
Up: Quick Erase (Program Memory only)
Left: Quick Erase (Program Memory and Internal Drive) - this reset is not documented
Down: Secure Erase (Program Memory and Internal Drive)
Center: Cancel http://kb.palm.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEB...lm_External2001
