| OGG format problems Ok, I upgraded Aeroplayer so that I could use the Ogg Vorbis plug-in and get more music on my memstick. However, I've noticed a lot of audio glitches with the OGG compressed files. I don't think that this is a problem with Aeroplayer but probably a problem with the compression. I've looked at the OGG homepage but I couldn't find a forum, so I'm asking here for opinions.
I'm compressing MP3's to OGG, which could be the problem actually, and I've used both dBpowerAmp Music Converter 9.0 and Quintessential Player with the OGG encoder plug in. After using both, I get the same glitches in the files. The originals are fine. Does anyone have ANY ideas what could be going wrong? Could it be my PC or possibly the fact that I am going from one lossless format to another lossless format?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

| The problem is more than likely that you are going from one lossy format to another. I do re-encode a lot files and have not had any problems with glitches, but I am also on Linux so I can't really help with the 'doze software you are using. I would try this, decode to .wav and make sure the file sounds allright. Then encode to ogg ans see if there are glitches.

| Yeah, that was my thinking. I'll try that tonight and see what results I get, otherwise I'll rip the CD's again but this time in OGG.
Yes I actually BOUGHT the CD's.

| Dass da best way to do it. Ripping to ogg directly will give you the best sound quality anyway. You will, without fail, lose some quality going from mp3 to ogg. This is not avoidable. Of course if you have really high bit rate mp3s and convert them to ogg you will notice less. I use ogg quality 3 for the files I am copying to my pda and all of my mp3s are 192 or better, so I don't notice that much loss. And I use cheap haedphones and a cassette adapter for the car, so my listening devices are not that high quality anyway!
