2sky astronomy software

Kevin Polk, the author of the excellent 2sky astronomy app for PalmOS, has generously given me permission to release 2sky for free as open source. I've made some updates and have released it. Get it from here:

The tour included in the link was pretty good. Here in smoggy LA I would have thought that Astronomy would not have that many enthusiasts, but I was proven wrong. For advanced stargazers maybe this introductory tool might not be enough, but still it is an impressive piece of programming.

For more advanced use, most of what one would need is provided by combination of 2Sky and AstroInfo (astroinfo.sf.net). AstroInfo is harder to use, and doesn't have the nice asteroid, comet and meteor shower support, but has about 5 million stars in its databases.

By the way, I would encourage developers who are no longer making any money from software sales to release their software as open source (if copyrights permit; one nuisance with my adapting 2Sky for open source release is that it used Palm sample code, which is perfectly legal in a closed source application, but had to be replaced for the open source version).
