| I know that this is a TJ forum, but I had the same problem on my SJ-33. Had to do the hard reset thing. Found out the app that did it for me. It was batt prefs. Batt prefs shows up in the preferences drop-down list. Since I removed it I have not had one lock-up. And I use most of the same apps as daveTN and doctigger 77. I am in the medical field also. Hope this helps.

| Marc--
The battery pref option does not seem to be available on the TJ. I have a SJ-30 and it was not there either, under the Preferences. Must be an unique option for the SJ-33. I wish Sony would wake up and help us with this problem or admit they have this problem, whether it be solely a Sony issue or a conflict between the TJ35 and OS5.

| For those in the medical field, forgot to add that I have accepted that I have to keep my backup files current on a memory stick. With this, whenever my TJ35 decides to not turn on and I end up with a hard reset, I just do my Restore from the MS.
The key thing here for those of us using ePocrates Rx for medication info, you cannot restore it from the MS but only from hotsyncing to the Internet. I guess enough of us have complained about this that they are finally looking into changing this. My most recent TS notice from eProcrates briefly discussed this. Until then, I am using Tarascon, which is a worthy second contender for medication info. It will restore from the MS.
I am also now limiting my purchases of new apps to only those that will restore from the MS, in the event that the TJ35 crashes.

| I have also had the same thing happen, but when it was lower in batter (about 25%) I tried resetting it, but it just wouldn't reset, instead it had a window with reset ont he bottom and nothing else. No matter how hard i tried, I couldn't tap the reset on the bottom. Does anyone have any advice? |

| AUTO LOCK
Seems this problem is cropping up in several subforums of TJ35. From another forum, AUTO LOCK seemed at fault. I tried turning it off, and GUESS WHATTT!!!!! No hard-reset crash now for 2 weeks. I sure hope this is it. However, I still backup 2x/day, just in case.

| Glad to know that my suggestion about disabling auto-lock solved the problem for you guys. Now you can start using the pda as it was meant to be used. |

| Unfortunately I need to use the auto-lock as I have confidential information on my Tj35 so what are the options. Has anyone talked to Sony about this issue and if so did they sound like they had a clue?

| i'm not aware of any circumstances where password autolock is absolutely required. i hope you did not misinterpret the previous post. the built-in password lock can still be used to protect your confidential information. just avoid using the password autolock feature, the one that can password lock your pda automatically after a preset time. To work around the hard reset problem, you'll have to password lock your pda manually, either through some gadget in a palm launcher or the lengthy procedure in the prefs menus. |

| efini - I understand but the reason to use the auto-lock is should the pda be 'borrowed' while it is in an unlocked state (from my desk, briefcase, ...) it will auto-lock after 15 minutes of inactivity and protect my data. not perfect but i'd rather do frequent hotsyncs and have the autolock protection.
thx
