I own a PS3, and have 3 games, all of them are something new i must say (Resistance, Full Auto 2, Tony Hawk P8), which can't be said of a 360 (a friend brought his yesterday and the only really inovating game is Gears of War), besides, many of the 360 games are available for regular Xbox and even PS2 (thats how special they are ).

I'm happy with my choice, and i'd do it again.

Bout the price?

Xbox 360 - $400 usd
Card Reader - $30 usd
60 Gb HDD (woot, there isn't one!) - would be about $150 usd (20 Gb is $100 usd)
Rechargable batteries - $35 usd
Wireless Network Adapter (a must have!) - $100 usd
Gold Membership - $50 usd (Mexican price, can't fin in BestBuy)

*Prices taken from BestBuy.com, except the membership, which i was unable to find, that price was taken from a Mexican store*

Let's add it up: 400+30+150+35+100+50 = $765 usd to get around the level of the PS3 (which has Card reader, 60 Gb, Rechargable batteries, WiFi, and they don't charge you to play online, or change your name... (u can't disagree with me in that, it's PATHETIC!!)

This is why I cant wait for the XBOX 360 Elite..hmmm 60GB....Lets own the PS3 and double it to 120GB :P PPL dont need Wifi-Well they're thinking about putting WiFi intergration with the Elite, Why would you need a Card Reader for? And I paid 25$ for rechargable batteries (Plug and Play Kit) in Best Buy..

Yea, well, we still have to wait for the "elite" xbox (i had never heard of it, but it seems like a way to "try" to fix up all the mistakes Microsoft did by launching the 360 so early (But they can't add Blu-Ray )) to come out.


Now lets analyze the elite version:

That means a price of $479, 120 HDD and HDMI port, no WiFi or HD DVD reader...

So they are selling you a 120 Gb HDD instead of 20 for $80usd... Thats a stupid way to "try" to win the battle, besides, 120Gb in a 360 are not as usefull as in a PS3, cuz in the ps3 u can install another OS (i will install Linux as soon as i download it) and in the 360 you can only store Media.

PS3 has HDMI port

WiFi is a must i think, keeping on mind that many persons have Wireless Networks in their homes, and many devices already can use WiFi (my palm T|X has, and my PSP has too), besides, you can't have your router next to your desktop AND your PS3, so i think WiFi is the solution, and Microsoft doesn't have the pants to put WiFi to the Elite version? (doesn't sound too "1337" anymore huh?)

But well, i think PS3 is not only a better value, but a better console, with more and better stuff.

About "needing" a card reader, if we go to what we "need", we wouldn't have a console, a Handleld, an HDTV, etc. and i think it's cool to have a card in which u can save your ps3 games, and music, and switch it and lisent to music in your TX or in a Mobile phone.

xbox sold 24 milion from 01 to 06- ps2 has sold over 100 million

Looking at the upcoming line up of games, the ps3 will outsell the 360 in 08 and 09 with hitters that have not even been mentioned but taunted Like TWISTED METAL for ps3.... and GOD OF WAR, and for a company that charges for THEMES on there Xbox live, has a 33% failure rate have only Gears of war 2 up there sleeve, it is ridicule to think that they will win this console war ... and were not mentioning the fact that HOME will come out and we have to conclude the ovious , that theres over 100 million loyal Sony users , i think more than half are FINAL FANTASY fans and trust me FF13 "new franchise" is exclusive for the ps3 , FF series never sold even slightly good on the Xb0x platform...

and i have make notice " what are all those HDMI equiped 360's going to play ? HD-DVD Failed ... it even has a standard DVD's opt for games u will never see a game in 1080 hdmi " it just does not fit " ... and they still lie to their children's fan base by saying WE HAVE GOOD COMPRESSION yada, yada ... microsoft will regret giving sony bad PR to succeed int his console war..

i think the biggest difference between the two consoles is the style of games. that is, the "Exclusively for" titles such as Gears of War (360), God of War (PS3). the Xbox is a BIG hit for players that love linking up with friends and hitting a campaign together, where as the PS3 is amazing for solo gaming (c'mon, don't lie to me about Unchartered!). I've found that games like Gears of War or Halo are great for tackling together with another player in Campaign mode, where as games such as God of War simply cannot be played in multiplayer (c'mon, who wants to see two Kratos' hacking and slashing at himself for 2 hours?).
That also goes for the Final Fantasy series, as an example. Lots and LOTS of kids in Asia these days have the Cloud hairdo, where as in North America we're looking at either people who just woke up or people who have more hats in their collection than they have savings funds. Likewise, the aesthetic style of Japanese games that come out for the Playstation are certainly different than that from companies like from North America: this is a huge factor in the video game industry. I play games that are realistic and more down-to-earth, rather than the extremely wild style of Anime games. So games like Rainbow Six or Gears of War better suit me than would Pokemon or Gundamn Wing (?) (I'm sorry, but I really don't know many Japanese games and these ones first came to mind, but you know what I mean).
Playstation has a much larger user base simply because people around the world have the "Japanese is better" mindset, which is as debate on its own. I've met people who wouldn't sit in my car (a second-hand 2001 Ford Focus) because it's not imported: utterly stupid, but what can you do about those people?

personally, i'm a social gamer, so i love playing games with friends (and being able to throw my controller at them when i lose ). so if you aren't too hardcore about games and just want to have a good time, you'd likely pick up the 360 because it's much cheaper and more widely available in North America (this is at least true in Canada).


as for how much money the companies made, those numbers don't really mean anything until you've factored in many other conditions, such as production cost, advertising, etc. Also consider that the two different continents require completely different taxes and import/export laws, which has another affect on the consoles. In the end though, even when the Xbox 360 came out (in 2005) it was about $500 CAD (for the Premium model - now it's $400). The core/basic PS3 package is still $750 where I live, now it's only $600. So the profit margin is probably much higher for the Playstation, and again the money made is not comparable because of this.
Not to mention, North American products rarely sell well in Asia: and we all know that Asia;s totally nuts for Nintendo/Playstation. So be sure to remove Asia's numbers from the comparisson to get a more level comparisson.


and lastly, i couldn't tell you much about Hi-Def because I know squat about it. but, i think the whole HD-DVD vs Blu-Ray thing is again one of those personal choices (when both were still around). perhaps Xbox went with the HD-DVD option because it was cheaper to produce and market?

I like X box 360 bc the majority of my friends and I play on Xbox Live. I like being able to play with my friends and as far as PS3 goes only one of my friends has that and that is not enough for me. GO X box 360 elite!
