Replacing MacBook HDD?

Does anyone here have a MacBook? I was thinking, since it is so easy to remove/replace the HDD in the MacBook, that I should buy a larger one. I will be selling my EB40 soon, so that will help pay for it.
I was thinking of buying http://eshop.macsales.com/item/West...tal/WD1600BEVS/ (160GB HDD).
Here are the steps I wrote up...

New HDD into the encloser (http://www.meritline.com/meritline-usb2-aluminum-2-5-external-enclosure-mini-hdd-case.html)
Format new HDD in HJF+
Remove old HDD
Old HDD into encloser
Insert new hdd
Boot into Mac OS X DVD
Install Mac OS X
Run Boot Camp, and make 120GB partion for Vista, and a 40GB for Mac OS.
After finishing, use Mac OS X with MacFuse to replace files (mac files onto mac partion, vista files onto vista partion).

Does this sound like it will work?

It should work. Though if it were me, I'd not install Boot Camp and Vista. That way I'd have 160GB all for OS X.

What do you need to run that requires Vista?

Transparency can be controlled by SetAlphaValue.

Mac OS X got borring over the years too (I've been using it since 10.1). I would never get a non-Apple computer (so don't worry!), I just want something "new"

I tried out that SetAlphaValue thing. Is there a way to make the mini-iTunes player transparent? That is what I really want..

I agree with Joel..... couldnt ever imagine using anything else.....even in elementary school "computer class" (kind of a joke, more like, learn to type haha) we used the old school Macs. Remember "paint"? haha.....

Also, Dragonsgames.....as far as the transparency in Vista, transparency, awesome, but no need for winblowz just to have it haha, see my screenshot, (if it loads)
As far as wanting something "new".....Im sure youve heard ot Shapeshifter? I hope , just load Shapeshifter, ClearDock, and WindowShade, theres a world of GUI tweaking at your fingertips, also, Onyx, or Cocktail if you want to pay, and you can put your dock anywhere, as well as some fun other tweaks/useful tools for cleaning etc....I put a list below:

- Shapeshifter + WindowShade + ClearDock (all www.unsanity.com)

- Onyx (http://www.titanium.free.fr/pgs2/en...onyx_tiger.html)

- InterfaceLift (for EVERYthing under the sun GUI wise )

Those are enough to get you customizing for hours, haha, its almost annoying, cause youll end up like i did, messing around until you get everything custom...note: my screenshot is ollld, I dont like the iconset etc, ill post or send you a new one if youd like.....

Also, Ive been dual booting lately, if you want to play around even more, Im dual booting OS X and Linux, use rEFit, and it works like a dream, no need for Boot Camp.....Also, Parallels is great, Im running Fedora Core 6 in it, at 1280x800 perfection.....Im not sure though, since you noted you would use 120GB for Vista and only 40GB for OS X????? Sounds like you might use windows alot more hmmmm? Haha.
Let me know how it all works, if you decide too!

Bryan

My Screenshot
(this ones old, Im putting my new one together, same theme, just different icons, and wallpaper, that ones annoying hahah.....)

What you see:
- iChat Buddy List (transparent)
- iChat window (non transparent)
- Terminal (transparent)
- iTunes (mini feature from Shapeshifter & transparent) bottom left
- Drop down menu (default transparent in this theme)
- Safari (non transparent)
- 2 "bars" above Safari, are 2 Safari pages (minimization feature in WindowShade, very handy!)
- the 2 "icons" right of those bars, are 2 more Safai pages (feature in Windowshade called "Minimize in Place", creates "thumbnails" of windows)
- Transmission running (transparent) bottom right
- and a regular old Finder window above that
- Dock (running ClearDock, gets rid of the annoying dock box)
- The icons, including Dock icons, are all from the theme Im running, I dont like them though, little too minimalist for me

I know its crowded, its never like that, but i tried to show features as much as i could.....and if this is all redundant and you knew about it, haha, sorry, just dismiss it

I used that theme, but whenever I restarted/logged out, I would have to make the icons transparent again. I like the regular Aqua, as it is nice, with the Agua icon set. (I don't like the metal). I heard Leopard will either have an iTunes 7 type theme (which is also a Shapeshifter theme, called 7 I believe). I don't use iChat, I use Adium with transparency (both chat window and buddy list)

I mean on the top bar, the status icons. They usually have a white border on them, and the theme has a way to fix that. It just needs to be done every restart.

oh ok i gotcha, .....thats odd though.....actually, pretty much all of my menu bar icons are fine, i have 12 or so, now i see what youre saying, I just installed most of them, while in this theme, and restarted, and all but 4 have the default "aqua" background, against my dark theme.....thats odd, hasnt happened in other themes so far, but damn, thanks for putting that out there for me!

Bryan

PS- Tonight, well after a few rum and cokes, haha, I logged on etc, and looked at my now "old school" Clie N760C, decided "nope, need more now haha", just ordered my Tapwave Zodiac 2..... fingers crossed Ill like it hahaha
