| Sorry Guys.... Sorry guys... I am running Windows XP on my MacBook!
It runs a lot faster than Mac OS X! I have 512MB RAM, so that might be why. When I installed, it was the ugly XP theme, and the included 800x600 wallpaper... I downloaded some new ones, installed a Vista theme, and some vista icons, and I have to say... it looks great!
Since I am new to Windows, I have some questions.
What is the best AIM replacement?
How do you guys manage music on your CLIE with it? I tried using SonicStage, but it doesn't work with my Memorystick for somereason...
I am using Outlook for eMail. Should I use Firebird?
How do I take screenshots?
Thanks.

| Hmm, well, I would have run windows too. I had a really really bad experience with a mac, but thats another story. Lots of people use Trillian as an AIM replacement. When I get a new computer, I generally do a full search for AIM and AOL, and delete any program that sounds similar (I really hate AIM). I would get a new music player. You cant use protected music on anything higher than 128 or something like that because of the magicgate protection. Then you can use a normal memory card with any music and no problems. I am currently using PTunes, and it interfaces with ZLauncher. I just browse to the music on my card in ZL, click it, and it works. For screenshots, there is a really good DA called HRCaptDA, and there is an accompanying program that lets you set the options on it (you will probably find them together).
Now, realizing that you were asking about your mac, and I feeling stupid, ill answer the rest of your questions.
Use Windows Media Player, its pretty good, and even recognizes mass storage devices. I would also suggest having VLC installed. For transferring music, you can also just set your palm up as a card reader with a program from Mobile-Systems (or another company). Its easier to control what gets done to your music collection this way. Outlook works fine for email. If it isnt working fine, then you can switch to Firebird, but if all is well, then thats unneccessary.
To take screenshots, hit the print screen key (since you are on a mac you may have to find out the equivalent), or install a screen capture program. If you do the former of these, your screen cap will be copied to the clipboard, and you can paste it to a new paint canvas.

| Trillian? Sounds familiar. I will check it out, thanks.
Hmm, strange, my songs are 128KBPS and do not have protection...
I use MediaLauncher because it gives better battery life. I just drag and drop now, but I would like to have a music manager...

| Another vote for Trillian. On my PC, I use iTunes for music... I don't know if it works with a Clie (haven't tried). For themes, I just use the Royale theme.
Yup, Windows XP is always fast during the first few weeks of any installation on a PC or on a Mac. Let me know the speed at around summer that is, if you're still using Windows.
Obviously, I'm a happy OS X user. I've upgraded my RAM to 2GB because I do a lot of Photoshop CS3 and Aperture jobs. With this amount of RAM, these two apps run as fast as CS2 and iPhoto when I first switched to the Mac in 2003.
Going back, I have a PC because I want to tinker with hardware... there's nothing really wrong with a Mac so I get bored. LOL. I also maintain that PC for games (WoW, Half Life 2, Call of Duty 2...)-- it's quite ancient being a Pentium IV 3.12 GHz but it works great for my games. For the MacBook Pro, I only use Boot Camp for two reasons: our software at work and for managing the Sony Reader. |

| Yea Windows is always fast upon install. Once the Registry is full of apps, then you will see that you will need more RAM. LOL.
As for screen shot, use the on screen keyboard . Go to Start > Programs > Accessories > Accessiblity >> On-Screen Keyboard.
BTW, you don't need MissingSync. Palm software works very well .

| Heya all, I'm considering getting a Mac Mini. I saw what Tiger does and that looks great. I'm thinking of getting the 1.83 Ghz, 80GB storage and 1GB Ram. Is this good for my needs? I'm mostly going to use it for internet, photoshop (when I can save for it, heard GimpShop is a good freeware alternative?), music, movies and photoalbums. Oh yeah, I'm also getting that Superdrive combo of both Dvd/Cd RW. I am lil torn between getting a new phone as well, my poor 650 is pretty banged up, a PS3 because home looks so cool, a VZ90 if I can find one because it just looks cool and love to have that remote control feature for music. The phones I'm looking at is the iPhone for something new or the upcoming 755P. With all these on my mind I'm still leaning toward the mac mini.

| All I bought with my tax return was a Nintendo DS Lite. Haha, I was looking at the Sony Ericsson P990i the other day, but then decided it was a little too rich for me at this point in time..
I think if I had a Mac, I would feel weird running Windows on it all the time.

| Yeah, Windows just... sucks. Not really another good word for it. It just doesn't work.
