Which one, Treo 680 or Nokia E61

Pros to the Treo
+ it's what i know, palm os
+ Software
+ Camera (fairly low res)
+ It's a treo

Cons to the Treo
- It's what i know palm os
- thickness
- no wifi
- Palms non-universial osx suite
- No carrier discounts in the UK

Pros to the Nokia
+ it's got more radios then a CB enthusast
+ No third party client on mac, syncs with ical & address book
+ Good looking
+ It's good great battery life

Cons
- Know little about the platform
- Application signing, private development maybe limited ( i know that it can be disabled)
- No touch screen
- No camera

Thats what i got so far, I want to develop apps, in fairly limited fashion for what ever platform i choose.

At the moment this is how my choices line up in terms of pounds and pence
E61 on T-mobile with unlimited data £22.50 a month for 18 months
Treo 680 unlocked £259.99, with my current pay as you go sim.

My calculations tell me that
E61
22.50 * 18 = 405

Treo 680 + plus 18 months of credit(not inclusive of data)
259.99 + 180 = 439.99

However the treo might/will have better resale value in 18 months time...

Ideas...

Hmm. Interesting.
I see what your saying. I have a T|E2 and i was thinking about getting a treo. I think that I would get the Treo, cause Nokia annoy me. Lol!
Although Palm OS can piss us off sometimes, there is sooooooo much third party software that, i guess, nokia won't have. Say you buy it, you have a load of treo users who would take the time to help you sort out a problem that you have run into. Would nokia users do that? I have no idea!(nokia users please dont hurt me!)
The touch screen is quite a big issue. Personally, i like it.
The WiFi, you can buy an WiFi expansion card. Can you do that with the Nokia?#
The Treo costs slightly more, but thats what you pay for quality.
Personally I don't know about the battery life, but i guess the treo has got a pretty good battery life.
I have a question for you.
Treo, Nokia or iPhone?
lol!
Hope this helped!

Sadly the 680 doesn't support SDIO wifi cards, so that was never happening.
App wise, if i want it bad enough, i'll write it myself.
Lastly, the touchscreen is nice, but makes the device less robust.

Besides it's too late now, i got the E61 beside me. Must say, palm need to sort their hardware out, and get some deals with UK carriers. Thanks for your insight anyway.

the E61 is thin, feature packed, and the battery life is great. Plus none of the palm gsm models do 3G. And 3g/UMTS is so much cooler than GPRS.

Symbian OS, isn't that bad, over simplified i think, but it's a dumb smartphone, In every respect but one, Multi-tasking! If palm produced something similar in hardware, and even put garnet in it (unlikely but stranger things have happened), i would sell this on ebay 2morrow.

Fix up palm!
