| OSX 10.3.7, Missing Sync & iSync I had something odd happen the other day. I had recently done a software update to 10.3.7 and had installed other updates, one of which I specifically remember was iCal. I got hotsync failures with my Clie. I had to turn off calendar syncronization in iSync for my handheld to have a successful hotsync. Since I don't enter calendar entries in my Clie and only want to get my address book to my .Mac account, the fix wasn't an operational problem. I'm up to date with OS X, iSync, iCal, and Missing sync revisions. Anyone else experience any wierdness with their 10.3.7 setup?
In the spirit of full disclosure, I also had a Netfront problem happen about the same time for which I had to delete the NFxxxx files in my handheld to restore browser function.

| no probs... No problems here whatsoever with 10.3.7 and Missing Sync...
Just a thought: did you try to erase the Missing Sync file in your Palm/Clie and reinstall it?
Maybe your Netfront crash has caused a corruption...?

| I haven't actively done any upgrades (not sure if any occur automatically), but I also had hotsync problems starting on Sunday (Dec 26). First I had an error reading contacts, then I had error with ICal. The log calls both errors a "NSSyncConduitException". I haven't had time to try fixing yet. I assumed it is because I had installed some demos programs to try out (iSilo, Life Balance, and Wordsmith). |

| My TJ37 gave me the problems again after I turned off the calendar sync, so that seems to have been a false solution. I noticed this time that it did it while I was doing a sync with the TJ on battery power. I normally hook up to AC. The problem seems to be a comm timeout thing. I retry and it goes through.

| has anyone encountered very slow booting under 10.3.7 as well compared to 10.3.5 or 10.3.6?

| I'm running 10.3.7 and a T5 with no hotsync problems (other than occasional resets after a successful sync, but the cause is known and the responsible handheld application is working on a fix).
I also just fired up Palm Desktop 4.2.1 (I normally don't use it, I stick with the Apple software & iSync) and it works fine.
I don't use Missing Sync. I tried it under 10.2.8 for a few days and took it off IMMEDIATELY. I found it woefully slow!
And no, I haven't noticed slow booting since updating to 3.7, however it's definitely faster than 2.8!
cheers,
Tim |

that is interesting...
there is a long thread of MAC users at Mac Welt (German Mac World) who all confirm very slow booting since upgrading to 10.3.7 mostly connected with their MAC trying to set up a DSL connection looking for ISP...
I even deactivated Suitcase X1 and it is still slower than 10.3.6

| I updated Jaguar to Panther (10.3.5) with no problems. Updated to 3.7 a day or so later with no noticable slow-down. And start-up is a definite improvement over 2.8. Also connects faster to ISP (via cable modem over Airport network).
I have noticed that some programs (StuffIt Expander for example) are considerably slower to launch, but this only occurs with some apps and is not system wide. |

| Sync works but Memory Stick doesn't mount! My Sync works OK.
But since 10.3.7, I can't get my Memory Stick to show up on the OSX 10.3.7 desktop -- it shows up as a Sony memory device in About This Mac under USB, so it's detected -- but the Clie SJ30 screen is unresponsive while plugged into the USB port. No sign of anything on the desktop.
The Clie won't do anything until it's unplugged
The Missing Sync help people have no clue.
I've:
-- cold reset the Clie
-- reinstalled MissingSync on both the Mac and the Clie
-- tried a new Memory Stick
-- tried a new USB cable
Next, Archive and Reinstall OSX (sigh)

| That older roblem was solved by a Missing Sync update.
New problem just as a warning, if you leave the Memory Stick inserted and do a HotSync, the Clie will crash the second time you sync, probably. Workaround, remove the Memory Stick before a HotSync.
Observation -- sometimes I can get away with forgetting to do this and have no problem, for a few weeks; then it starts happening again.
OSX 10.3.9, latest MissingSync version as of today 5.1.2 (140)
The MissingSync support people complain a lot about the Clie whenever asked on their online forum about a Clie sync bug, saying the Clie is nonstandard.
But so far they sort of still support it mostly. |
