| PalmGear vs Handango "for developers" Hi all..
I started to develop Palm applications just a week ago, and I've successfully created my first working Palm app which I think is worth being released as a shareware.
I've initially signed-up for PalmGear's developer section (I haven't received the approval mail yet-- signed-up 6 days ago), but I've been hearing lately about PalmGear being pretty stuffy and greedy when it comes to their share of revenue. So I thought of Handango.
Personally, I like how Handango's sections are organized. Very clear and intuitive unlike PalmGear's, IMO. Plus, not receiving the approval email from PalmGear after more than 6 days, and not receiving a support reply either when I contacted them about it is turning me off. I don't know if that's normal of them or what.
Anyway, which is more popular and which one receives more traffic?
So, say that I'll release my app which is a simple database app for $5 -- how much net revenue I am to receive from PalmGear and Handango?
And does Handango send the money on a check like PalmGear or otherwise?
Your response is going to direct my destiny!
So I'd appreciate it...!

| Then which of them would be more suitable for beginners and low-priced apps?

I have not looked at their pricing schemes, but I assume from this that: You get more sales from PalmGear, but they take a bigger percentage of each sale. |

| Many of the more savvy customers are no longer purchasing through Handango because they now charge a fee for re-download guarantee, which effectively adds cost for downloading any incremental app upgrade that would normally come without cost at PalmGear. |

| Hi,
why not look at MobiHand?
They charge just 20%, and have pretty good customer support. No lunatics there like at PalmGear's ESD admin department |

| Its Tam! Nice to "meet" you!
The thing I like about 1src: you get to meet all the big names
I use PalmGear (plus open source - MIT) because I get the feeling that its where everyone is. And if someone visits Handango they likely also visit PalmGear... |

| Hi,
yeah, MobiHand is prolly the worst. My favourite one would have been PalmGear, but the jerks there make me suffer too much as I have very small sales and they thus ignore me.
MobiHand's, on the other hand, is mostly jerk-free.
Please also look at this: http://tamspalm.tamoggemon.com/2007...alm-os-economy/
The interviews at TamsPalm's contain a load of interesting thingies about ESD's... |
