It's time to go mobile wild. Nowadays, most Pocket video converter is popular more and more going with Pocket developed. This document will show you how to put your favorite DVD movies on Pocket devices using Wondershare Pocket DVD Studio, a professional conversion tool for both Pocket video and audio.

Step 1: Free download Wondershare Pocket DVD Studio and run it.

Step 2: Launch the DVD to Pocket conversion software and the concise interface is as follows:


Step 3:Click “DVD” or “IFO” button to load DVD folders or IFO file:


And the select DVD folders will be displayed in the blank area, and the “Output File Name” and “Size” show relevant information:


Click “Output File Name” button to rename output file, or you can use the default name:


Step 4:Click “Preferences” set the output setting of this project according to your demand, see the figure below:


The Preferences bar interface is as follows:

Output File path: Click the browse button to specify a folder to save the converted file of the current project.
Audio: Select an audio channel and an audio frequence for the current project.
Video: Set the resolution, output format, frame rate, aspect ratio and bit rate for the current project.
The file size can be viewed below the bit rate option. If you make different settings for a project, the size of the project will vary.
Click “Default” if you want to restore the settings to the original default settings. Click “OK” to finish the settings and click “Cancel” to close this window.

Step 5: Click “Convert” button to start convert and rip DVD format to Pocket Video:


The process bar shows the current process of the conversion. See the figures below:

You will see the information of Elapsed time and time remaining.
Hide: Check this option to hide the preview window.
Shut down computer when conversion is completed: Check this option if you want to shut down your computer after the conversion.

OK. You successfully convert DVD format to Pocket Video. You will find the converted files in the specified output folder.

Tips:
1. After loading DVD folders, the buttons for preview are available, and you can click “Play” to preview. Please note that this function is only for preview:


2. The program allows you to convert one project or multiple projects at a time, If you just want to convert the current project, you can just click the “Convert” Button, If you want to convert all the added projects, you can just click the “Convert All” button.

I use 'Lathe' to convert films (not directly from DVD), which works seemlessy and ultra fast.

great tutorial, but i have just question. how do you suppose to playback WMV file on palm handheld?

edit: Wondershare Pocket DVD Studio is not free ($29.95) though it have a free trial.

I use pocket dvd studio (pqdvd.com). It has the advantage that as far as I can tell, it doesn't do any DVD decryption itself, but lets one's licensed DVD playing software (e.g., WinDVD) do the decrypting--and then it captures the output. This means that it might be able to get around the DMCA, since it's not cracking the encryption on the DVD. (Or maybe it needs to crack some access controls to capture the video?)

Wondershare, on the other hand, looks like it accesses the files on the DVD directly, and to do that, I think it's got to be decrypting.
