Red face "Owner" password recovery

Hi all, I am new here.

I just reinstalled my desktop PC that did all the HOYSYNC operation. Now after I reinstalled all the TH55 related software, it prompts for a owner's password whenever I press the HOTSYNC button and since I can't remember what it is, no backup/install operation can be performed.

I'd be grateful should someone here can shred some light into my present predicament.

Never heard that one before. Does it asking for password or username? Some time new users change their usernames and the Palm Desktop for CLIE get confused about who you are, as there are several users sharing the Desktop.

my desktop PC prompts for password since I didnt know what it is (I dont recall having set one in the first place!), the HOTSYNC cannot continue.

This isn't something new...

It's asking for a password because it wants to confirm you are the actual owner of the TH55 you are about to hotsync. So... uh... hopefully you really are the owner... since the owner ought to remember the password he/she put on the device.

just a thought.

So if you are the owner, and forgot the password, go to the SECURITY application on your TH55, and tap on the password and hit LOST PASSWORD to change it. Or of course you can just hard-reset the palm and then hotsync. Hopefully you have a backup somewhere.

If you aren't the owner, then are you asking us to help you bypass the security?
