I had a T5 and bought a few cases for it, mainly becuase I wasn't happy with most of them. I liked the pdair case best, I picked this up cheaply on ebay, mainly because the T5 slid in, wasn't too tight and came out again easily without getting scratched. I think this is an important issue with cases - how easy is it to get the pda out? I also bought the palmone T5 case - pooh, this case was poor, the T5 went in on a slider and wobbled about like Pamela Anderson's breasts in a loose fitting t-shirt. I soon dispensed with that one. I then got the proporta crystal clear case which I liked using best but it was marked down on the fact trying to get the damn thing out again felt like you'd just gone 10 rounds with Mike Tyson. I then tried a leather case I think from proporta again...didn't like this at all, it looked like something you would take to church and was a bit flimsy. All these cases of course fit the T/X...and I've just bought one so looks like it's back on the case hunt again !!

Waiting for my TX and checking the hard case issues; I've been using innopocket hard case on my TJ37 - but I wonder if anyone has opinions about Boxwave metal case for TX, and which one would be better - Boxwave or Innopocket?

hey, guys!

(1) if i order the case from the dude in hong kong, will i be charged some kind of duty fees or something? it says that he's not responsible for htem, which is fine, but how do i even find out if i will be a victim of these hidden charges? i'd be ordering from virginia. anyone who's ordered one have any input?

(2) is the covertec hardcase the same as this one from innopocket ? ...i've had my eye on this one for a LOOOOONG time, but jsut too chicken to jump in and make "one" decision on a freakin' PDA case. do you think it's the same? i just love how 'molded' it is...[**sigh**]

(3) any comments on this other one by pocketsolutions ?

i'm very new to this Palm/PDA type thing, and can't get over all the choices!

I bought the Black Innopocket Aluminum Case for My T|X from Alpinetop for $18.95

Even though Alpinetop is in Canada the item was shipped from Hong Kong so I am not sure if its the same "dude" from Hong Kong that ramonaquimby was referring to but I wasn't charged a hidden fee.

I think its a great case -- it has 2 SD card slots.

The $18.95 is a sale price according to their site which is good until the 11th. Otherwise its $24.90.

Alpinetop is also a powerseller on ebay where you should also be able to buy this case.

The web site for the case is here:

Metal case disaster?

I’ve never used a metal case before, and I just bought a TX, so I wanted to get a good protection for it. I’m looking for a metal case that can fold the cover 360° so I can hold it firmly in my left hand when I’m using it on the street. Most of the cases including the Rhino case and the Covertec case only opens 180°, while most leather case can fold the cover back. I want the protection of metal case, but I really fear that when I’m trying to balance the slippery metal case opened on my hand, I’d drop the whole thing to the ground (so much for a metal case protection!). Can anybody give me any hands-on experience of how easy to hold the thing while it’s opened 180°? Also, other than the Palm T5 case, which was known to be a piece of crap, is there any other metal case that opens 360°? Thanks.

Ok time to bring back this thing up!

Also bought an Innopocket from AlpineTop.
- The shipping you pay is it, not more charges. Shipped Airmail from HK.

I've never seen a metal case that store SD card label facing you. It's the way the cards are made that make the storage clip this way. Look at it closely. Anyway.

My main gripe with the Innopocket is that the case could have been slimmer! There's a good 3-4mm extra space at the top and in depth. Probably the T5 is a little bigger than the T|X and companies did not made cases to fit exactly the TX. So the Palm "floats" freely inside. That I don't like.

It's quite a nice case but I like a snuggier fit. Any other suggestions? Seems Covertec is out of question now .

What about PDAir and Boxwave?

I have the Rhino Skin hard case for my TX. It only opens 180 degrees, but that is okay with me. I can hold the case in my left hand with my thumb on the lining just to the left of the hinge and my other fingers underneath the right side for support. It actually balances pretty well. The hinge seems strong enough to use this way. I have not seen any flexing or other problems with the lids or the hinge. This hold also gives me good control over the TX. Hope this helps.

I agree on the SD card issue. In fact, many of the hard cases look very similar to me. Only minor cosmetic changes like the clasp, logo, maybe the hinge or a cutout. Look at RhinoSkin, InnoPockets, PocketSolutions, BoxWave. All probably made by the same manufacturer in China.

My RhinoSkin hard case is the same way - loose fit inside the case. Otherwise I like the case really well.

Reason - they're probably all the same case - see answer above.
Solution? - I think I'll try buying some of those stick on felt circle pads you can put on the bottom of vases, etc to not scratch tables. Just a couple of small (1/4 " ones) in the outside corners of the lid might do the trick....

Edit: Sorry - accidentally deleted a bracket and slash mark....
