It's quite amazing that the more you think about the TX, the more it makes sense.
There's nothing exciting about it, it's nothing revolutionary. Hec, it's so similar to the Clie TH55e that Sony released so long ago.

But...

It's the right color + the right price + the right function combination.

The TH55e is a good device, but at the wrong price, which limited it's sells.
The past Tungstens all lack WIFI.

Now it seems that Palm has done it right, finally. This might be a major cash cow. Chears to Palm, but I don't think people would like to see that TE/T5/TE2/TX casing again. Make this the last one, and do a new look next time, please.

(If only Sony release a revised TH now with competitive pricing, the TX won't seem so good though But at least, those whose TH55s are dyeing finally have something that is close enough to be the successor to the TH )

I love my TH, but should anything ever happen to it Sony has left me no option as a replacement. The TX looks very promising, I hope it does well for Palm.

Nope, forget about it.
Someone could buy it already in Brussels but the price was ... 399 €.

IIRC the TH55 cost less than the T|X does when it came out and, at least IMHO, gave a lot more (Not just hardware, but software. Palm still haven't got that whole Value Adding thing down anywhere near as well as Sony did ).

It's only expensive now because Sony cut short production while there was still a huge demand for it, so prices for it actually started going UP! At one point eXpansys were selling it for twice as much as it's original price!! (I can't think of any other PDA where the price has gone UP instead of DOWN when it got old!! )

Damn, thats gotta be a mistake.
Most recent Palm´s have had a dollar for a euro conversion lately.

For a long time the TH55 was the only Palm device that combined the following features:

1. High-res screen
2. Tablet design (not a clamshell.)
3. Built-in Wi-Fi

When you also add in the fact that it had a great battery life, and that for the European model, both Wi-Fi and bluetooth built-in, it's no wonder that prices remained high for a long time.

Having said that, I must say that I never did like the ridiculous placement of the scroll wheel on the TH55. All of the TH55 cases had to have a big cut-out in the back so that you could get to the wheel. The original side-mounted thumb wheel and D-pad of the Palm devices were much better solutions, in my opinion.

So, when is it going to be released? I thought that was going to be today... (I need people to tell me whether mySkin and FontSmoother work on it. Of course, free copies of both will be given to the first couple of TX users who give me test reports.)

One question, is the usable 100MB all RAM or patitioned? I think the Z22(lost the Zire name?) and TX(again, gone with Tungsten?) look pretty good so far. Only way I'd EVER think about getting TX is if the 100MB was all the RAM. I hate the measly 65MB on the T5 and LD. And a lot of things dont run off my HDD or Card. I have 19% left on LD and I dont think even 30MB on SD card. So 65MB is measly amount of RAM to me...
