New revolutionary FREE media player is out!!

Hi all.
Glad to announce a new video/audio player -
The Core pocket Media Player (tcpmp) for Palm os.
It has been only released, but it is already fastest video player for palm.
About 1.5-2 times faster than MMplayer, SmartMovie, or any other player for palm OS.

Even owners of slower devices as TE/Zire71/TT/TT2 can enjoy full screen full framerate video playback. No more tweaks are needed on TT3/TT5 - it is so fast, that it easily plays any video , without overclocking or pre-rotation.

This player is based on the engine of BetaPlayer for pocketPc, and is written ty the developer of BetaPlayer - one of best players for PPc's. therefore it is very optimized, and supports large variety of formats.
For example, this is the only player for palm OS, that can play .OGM (ogg media
video) and .MKV (motroska) video formats. No need to mention that it plays regualar .AVI(divx/Xvid), and also .mp3 and .ogg (and other ) audio files. And it is completely free.

Although it is pre-alpha reliese, it's olready behaves very stable, and does excellent job. I personally tested it on TT3 and TE, and found no problems.

Get it here:

I can't test this program (currently don't have a Palm) but I know his betaplayer for Pocketpc, use this app very often, and that's a very good app. Thanks to him my Loox 720 has better graphic performance also.

NX73 and MCA

Just tried it with the test avi file from the forum listed above. It works very well. Doesn't look like it dropped frames....sound was synced. Looks interesting. Test file is set at 24 fps. I had to set the sound on as it didn't always start with sound on.

I'd backup your data before using....just in case.

Edit: I wonder if it will work with MP4 files from IC 2?

Maybe I will someday get a new pda, but it must to have phone cababilities so I don't need to use my regular cellphone anymore. And yeah, this means I won't be hanging in here 1src that much anymore. If someone want me to remove unfinished threads from 1src or something just pm me. Keep your gadgets running!

It will work with the provided file easily on a TH-55, but I wouldnt be getting all excited about a revolutionary media player for the TH. Low-bitrate files will probably work great with this player, but do not expect it to reach anywhere near the quality of the built in player. When I say quality, I mean playable bitrate and resolution.

My friend who has a TH55 played the same video files using this software and the inbuilt player. One word from him: Wow!! I don't think I need to say anymore.

No offense, but he didnt. The test files will not play on the built in player. The TH has a lowspeed processor, but builtin codecs for video and audio, which utilize a built in DSP processor. When video is formatted for these codecs, I will guarantee it will play better than anything that TCPMP can do. I like TCPMP, but unless Picard wants to devote alot of time to reverse engineering the DSP for the TH, UX, and VZ PDAs, it isnt going to play better, but it still beats out MMPlayer by a long shot, which seriously struggles with the test video.

BTW, TML will not play the test files, though it should be able to.

I am also hoping that maybe Cliepet will be able to mod one of the final versions to support the built in codecs on some of the sony clies, so I dont have to resort to using 2 players. I am picky, arent I?

It WOULD be nice if someone could reverse engineer the Avx files that allow UX/TH users to play MP4s, so that we could make use of the DSP with other codecs.

(imagine a AVXDivxDecoder, AVXWMVDecoder etc etc...)

Now THAT would be the ultimate.

Thus you are saying that the video must be 'formatted' specifically for the TH55 and so, before they can play smoothly? So what's the point of the in-built player if it can't play a video file, say for instance, downloaded straight from the web smoothly as compared to this? A need to convert seems to be a hassle if the downloaded video is already small in screen resolution (less than 320x480) and can play on this.

Anywayl, the guy told me he did play it, unless he's fibbing.
