I think we should eliminate the post counts.

Agree entirely. I believe the post counts often just create unecessary posts. |

| I take post counts with a grain(s) of salt, you can interpert them anyway you want, originally I just posted that, in the new forum they were not accurate ( which will be addressed)
Personally don't care one way or another if they want to remove post count and associated member status fine by me |

| My PalmOneCity Profile did not migrate Hi! Did anybody else loose his PalmOneCity Profile when POC migrated to 1src? I am glad that I still have my Cliesource profile... I would actually like to have my POC Profile back, any chance the moderators can help me with that!
Regards,
Stefan |

I believe they had to make a choice when merging the database whenever a name matched exactly, as to which was preferential. You can always ask, but depending on the number of requests, that could become unmanageable rapidly, so be nice when you ask.
Both my profiles from POC and CS are here which tells me they merged both member lists, I chose to use the CS one as I did not use the POC one very often, but my names did not match exactly.

| I can't change mine either, and I'm the co-founder! LOL. I wouldn't worry about it that much, Reggie's doing the best he can to make the site stable, I think that's more important. |

| Lets have two different post counts maybe?
I really loved the fact that i was Top 10 poster at POC and i had like over 1300, which was quite a bit, and now i am down to 570 from CS so maybe add them together or have two different counts on each account or only have the two different posts if you were a member of POC and CS? I mean TB (Undeadkid) had tons of posts and now he is back at zip...
DD also had MANY posts and now is way lower than he once was... If you like the two seperate idea (Two Top 10, two post counts, but only if you were a member of POC and CS ect.)
Dunno maybe we should just do away with the post counts like stated before, do they really matter? Its not how much you say its what you say.

My Mission Impossible challenge is: Try and make it so that it's pretty but you can still browse with something sick like Lynx. |
I'm running Opera 7.5 and the only issue I have come across so far is the browser seems to crash alot when clicking on links to go the the next page of a thread. Other than that, I haven't seen any Javascript issues.
And yes, there needs to be some way basic browsers such as Lynx can browse 1SRC. There is no way to go into the forums from the main page currently.

| For me.... I don't care that much about post counts. It is a nice 'trivia' item. I'm kinda with the 10,100,1000,10000+ counts. I think that would be sufficient. That being said .... in order to have that number accurately display ... they have to keep track of the number of posts in order to assign you the right 'ranking' or whatever they want to call it. If they have to keep track of the 'real' number .... might as well display it.
For those of us ...... who have made contributions to PalmOneCity ... and/or ClieSource from a 'monitary' standpoint.... it would be 'nice' to have those 'distinctions' added here on 1src. Might be 'trivial' to some .... but I do think that speaks well of some people and shows those individuals who have 'buy-in' to this site. Those people should have some kinda 'recognition'.
Best I would see ..... for an easy way to implement..... is you only get to select from 'standard avatars' until such time as you wish to contribute to the success of the site.
Many a time.... I see it similarly to maybe .... people who go to church. They go all the time... they say they are part of the 'church body' .... but they don't want to put anything into the offering plate to support the church/pastor/missions...etc.
We, at times, feel things should always be free ... I think this site is 'great' to be free and very informative ..... but would be nice to maybe do something 'extra' for those who do contribute, or have contributed to the other sites in the past. |
