I want to use a .wav file as the alarm / alert for incoming SMS. I have tried using the Sound Converter 2 application on the desktop to import the file (13kb) and that has worked, i.e. the file is coverted and imported to my Clie. However, I can't seem to get the SMS application (hacked from UX?) to recognise any other sound except the damn default 'beep'. On checking the file type in Sound Utility it says that the 'beep' Alarm is an "SMF" file (which is a type of midi file), but others, which I can't seem to select as alarm sounds (including the tasteful "SingingBird" as well as the imported version of my Monty Python .wav) are "PCM". Now, I have managed to get all the PCM files to play as alarms in WA Clock, but not in SMS which only confuses me more.
So I have two questions:
1. Is this just a quirk in the SMS app? Has anyone managed to get any other sound to work as an alarm with the SMS app?
and, assuming I need PCM files...
2. Anyone have any idea how I can covert my .wav to "PCM"? I can't find any options in Sound Converter 2.
Thanks,
