#2 | | Guest | your question is worded a little strange, but if you asking now to unlock a cingular treo 650, then there are 3 ways:
you have had the phone for at least 3 months and get a kind customer service rep who will provide you with the unlock code (and you tell them that you are traveling overseas)
you pay for a remote unlock service (e.g., found on ebay)
you pay for a mail in unlock service (e.g., found on ebay)
for the cingular treo 650, you do not need a data cable in order to unlock it; you only need the code.
all that does is allow you to use any gms carriers sim in the phone.
in terms of "worldwide net service" , that is different since most prepaid sim cards do not provide data; unless you use your own dial up isp and your minutes.

| Is it the same for Rogers Wireless? Can I really call a sales rep, and ask for my unlock code? (If I've had it for 3 months)

#6 | | Guest | you can in fact unlock a rogers gsm treo 650, but you have to 'do it yourself' and pay for it. http://search.ebay.com/unlock-treo-...geN ameZRC0022
there are several remote and mail in services that will do this, but of course you have to pay for it. unlike cingular, rogers does not commonly provide unlock codes.
the key is that unlike most motorola phones that have to be unlocked via a "program" vs a code, you can have a gsm treo 650 unlocked remotely, both by downloading a "program", and by providing your imea (and simply entering in the code that the seller determines on their host program).
i personally have done both with a cingular gsm treo 650 and cingular moto v3 razor (for my wife).
while there is always some degree of risk, this method of unlocking is quite common.
unless you want to swap out the sim, there may be no real advantage to unlocking for now though.
i also use a version 8 dual sim card holder to keep both a cingular and t-mobile (work and personal) sim's in my unlocked treo 650, and it works fine.
there is now even a version 10. i also travel overseas, so this is a nice feature. http://mobile.brando.com.hk/PowerfulDualCard10.php

Thanks for your helping, you are so kind
So we need to pay the unlocking services, then the seller will send the software to my email address.
Then I can unlock the phone by myself, is it very easy?
waiting for your reply.
Best regards

#8 | | Guest | yes, you pay for the 'service', and they will send you software (for your computer, not your treo). you use that software to link up with their server, while your treo is connected to your computer via the usb data cable.
why do you want to unlock your phone though?
