| Moving to HTC FLyer I am a project engineer. From that perspective, I have been using the 7" Flyer now for a couple of weeks with Android. This is the device I am migrating to from my th55. I really like the on screen writing for notes and sketching with the stylus and resistance screen, similar to the TH55 Clie Organizer. The notes link with the calender events, but I have to use Jorte to link with task and memos. The notes also link with my evernotes account and the calender syncs with my google account.
The note taking is very comfortable in a meeting atmosphere. The flyer's standard software includes polaris and pdf viewer, both which work with the stylus for jotting comments and highlighting. I have loaded word, excel and pdf documents which I have highlighted and marked up.
It is portable enough to carry to the field to use as a notebook and use the camera to document equipment and piping. I can comment directly on the photos with dimensions and sketching.
The 7" flyer is about the same size as a nook reader, and a lot of the nook covers fit the flyer. I found an M-executive leather cover with pencil holder that fit well, it does cover the rear camera though.
Also, android OS has a TV remote for the google TV I have at home, brings back memories of using my CLIE 615C as a remote with my Sanyo tv. I am still searching for a phone to complement the tablet.

| Regarding Phone Selection With the android market support growing exponentially, I will stick with android for my phone also. I was leaning toward web OS, but I do not see the support by developers.
Apple reminds me too much of the old betamax vs vcr format battle. Even though beta was agreed to be the best, everyone supported vcr's and beta died a slow death. |

| Interesting tablet!
How long last the battery when fully charged?
Can the battery be replaced?

| Battery Life I've been using the flyer for three weeks now (wi-fi only). For me, the battery life lasts several days before I need to charge it. I charge it every night though. Typical day includes using it as a planner, I do not use it with wi-fi until I am at home in the evenings.
I have not accessed the battery compartment to see if the battery is replaceable.
So far, the CLIE's have been left at home as android apps have matured enough to provide decent PIM ability. |
