| Has anybody got TH55 working under XP Mode in Win 7 64? Hello all you bright young things..
{ -I may have to take that back.. Surely somebody out there in Sony Clie-land must know how to get them working in Windows 7? I'm kinda gobsmacked that, with this being the 'ultimate' gathering of Palm 'gurus' and all, nobody seems to know any answers to my questions.. Oh well... All things must pass... :-)
Can I safely assume that there is no way to get the silly things working in 'Compatability Mode under Win 7, because it doesn't work for me. }
The Title says it all... Has anybody got TH55 working under XP Mode in Win 7 64? If so, please give me some tips! :-)
I have installed the Palm Clié drivers, Palm Desktop, etc, but XP mode doesn't see the Clié in the cradle.
In 'Device Mangler' in the XP mode OS, I have question marks for three "Virtual PC Integration Device" entries, but cannot find drivers either locally or on the web.
Oh.. I have allowed Virtualisation mode in the BIOS, too - not that the current version of XP Mode is supposed to require that.
Any ideas at all would be gratefully accepted.
Ta.

| I don't suppose you tried pointing it at the TH55 drivers?
I have to say, the XP-mode in Win7 is junk; I've had much better success with VirtualBox (Free!) and VMWare (Better but expensive/needs registration) as USB devices get 'tunnelled' through to the VM so you can just install the Clié Desktop in the VM and then sync and it should work. |

| Yoohoo!
An XP VM in VMWare allows the Clié TH55 to work perfectly. I am now a happy chappie.
I still would love to have it working in XP Mode, though, and can't understand why it won't.
In XP Mode, when I right-click on the HotSync icon in the XP taskbar, the USB option is simply not there. It was there in VMWare, so I captured the device and all is now synchronising well.
Cheers.

| Now that you have got the Clie working with XP Mode via VMWare are other things working like plucker synchronization, Mobipocket and other interactions? Then again those would work just by the card reader and just reading stuff via Memorystick....

| I have a Vaio P running Win 7 Home Premium. I installed the software directly on Win 7 as I did on my old XP machine and it is working perfectly. Did not do anything special. I simply plug my TH55-E and hit the hotsynch button.
One thing strange is that the hotsynch icon in the systray never goes away even when I set it to only show when I run the desktop program.

| I haven't checked back here in a while, but why use XP Mode? I have Win 7 Professional 64-bit and it works fine other than the USB. I have to use Bluetooth synchronization. I thought that was the standard procedure. |

Is there a specific reason you want to use XP Mode?
@ oldertechnology
That's interesting. My Desktop app synchs perfectly via USB with my Clie and I did not have to do anything special. Difference from your case is that my Home Premium is 32-bit. So, I never tried the XP Mode.

| That 32-bit might be the difference. I think Vista 64-bit also broke the USB, but I never owned a copy of Vista. Glad the old setup still works for you. |
