| Yes you have to do a hard reset.
Ok just finished the whole day today (actually did other stuff in between, including watching superman)...
Here's the deal... i did a hard reset, installed the update without problems (checked the proper versions of wifilib and versamail), then tried partially restoring from Resco backup...
Got caught in a damn hard reset after the COntacts db backup... and when it went to the hard reset, it only gave me the SECURE ERASE option... i dont know why...
is this maybe the contacts file was corrupt and all it could do was reset? i didnt even have a password yet for my system. Why is this?
Anyway i just tried overwriting the PIM dbs from the Palm folder i copied before i uninstalled my prev palm desktop (upgraded from a t3)... and was successful... thank god!
right now i am installing one by one my applications (via the quick install module).... med apps were ok, so were agendus, hilauncher, docstogo8...
next up Zlauncher... still afraid to try it... i am developing palpitations everytime my LD resets... waiting if it gets back to the date/time screen at all...
should i install Zlauncher from my backup or from my saved palm folder or start from scratch and run the installer again?
thanks guys. please pray for me |

| Sir Bulls96, I humbly suggest that you try not to install Zlauncher. The LD is quite sensitive to the software. Instead itis happy with LauincherX. Just an unsolicited advice. |

Unsolicited, but also a little misleading. Zlauncher runs perfectly on the LD. In may case I am running a bunch od system hacks (Fontsmoother/Hackmaster, fonts4os5, skinui, Audodo etc etc) and ZL plays perfectly well with all of them. In fact I have not had a soft reset (apart from versamail that I dont use now) for a long time. |

| LifeDrive Update 2.0 has now been out for quiet a while, does ANYONE expect an update to it at any point in the future, and if so when?
It would be nice to get one!!! |

| Since the Lifedrive is currently a discontinued device, I would not expect any more major upgrades (those that changes the system ROM). I would give a small chance of a minor update (small system extension applications that load into memory). |

| Ain't gonna happen. Palm has abandoned standalone handhelds in favor of smartphones. The TX won't be sold much longer, IMO, nor the other models. The Lifedrive is completely dead as far as Palm is concerned. |

| Lifedrive may be dead but looks like prices for Lifedrive have remained steady. If I were to choose between Life drive and TX I would go for the Lifedrive if it was $100 cheaper than the TX (since I would have to install a Lifeflash...)

You need to "simulate" a hard-reset!!! While you press the reset button on the device's right bottom, move the power button as if you would like to turn it on and hold it, now release the reset button and you have it. So you'll see a screen with the hard reset options: A new option appears, it can make a hard reset only for the RAM and respects the LifeDrive hard disk......"this says to do a reset in 5 minutes!!!" Now you only cancel any operation by pressing the center button.
So, if you see this in your device's hard reset options, you have the LifeDrive update!!! |
